The Basics

• Processor: The 2.4 GHz Intel Pentium E2200 dual-core processor delivers additional computing resources and help expand the PC’s capabilities by providing higher throughput and simultaneous computing. You'll be able to perform multiple tasks such as digital rendering and gaming all while running virus scan or other background tasks seamlessly. And its Intel 64 architecture is also ready for tomorrow's 64-bit applications, and offers enhanced performance through improved virtual memory. Each core shares 1 MB of L2 cache, and they have an 800 MHz front-side bus. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. • Hard Drive: The super-sized 500 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive (7200 RPM) offers a wealth of storage space, perfect for storing a vast multimedia collection or for editing digital video. This SATA hard drive has a 3Gb/s interface speed that enables up to 300MB/s data transfer rates (double the speed of the current SATA interface of 1.5Gb/s).

A great and fast computer for the price
Great computer with triple-core processors so you never lock up again. Great with synthesizer latency issues. Lots of ports, and HP Pocket Drive bay for taking your portable drives on the go Great product!

Don't buy this computer if you run Vista
Purchased this computer about a month ago, started it up started loading software and files from my old computer and the fun started. The computer would randomly freeze up for no apparent reason, the mouse and keyboard were unresponsive. Went through all the normal trouble shooting with no luck and finally opted to return it to the store I purchased it from thinking it was faulty. The store gave me a brand new computer and for about the first 24 hours it seemed to be working fine - started the software load, and file transfer and it started freezing up just like the last computer. Removed everything I installed and any registry entries with no change - the computer froze randomly. After about a week of messing around with the thing and trying to troubleshoot with help from HP I returned this computer to the store too and picked up another computer that was totally different than this one. My new computer is a quad core Pentium and it works just fine. I think this may be a situation where the hardware isn't compatible with Windows Vista as advertised. Maybe it works fine with XP but if you're running Vista or intend to in the future go with another box.
