![]() | Earth Crisis by Steel Pulse
Buy new: $11.98 / Used from: $6.03 Steel Pulse was from England, but that didn't stop them from making some of the best reggae of all time. This album may indeed be my favorite of their many talented releases.
![]() | War Ina Babylon by Max Romeo & the Upsetters
Buy new: $16.98 / Used from: $48.00 This hip shakin beauty was, in my opinion, the greatest production output from the legendary Scratch Perry. That's no to take anything away from Max Romeo, he's brilliant here. Every song a masterpiece. "Uptown Babies Don't Cry" and "One Step Forward" being my favs.
![]() | Gold by Bob Marley and the Wailers
Buy new: $14.97 / Used from: $6.52 A great introduction for those wishing to discover the most popular and greatest figure in reggae. A double-disc, this is a more complete collection than the widely popular greatest hits collection "Legend". Only song missing from "Legend" is "Three Little Birds".
![]() | Two Sevens Clash: 30th Anniversary Edition (Dlx) by Culture
Buy new: $18.98 / Used from: $10.98 Listed on many of the "100 greatest albums in rock history", these are some of the most infectious rhythms ever recorded.
![]() | The Harder They Come
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $4.50 This soundtrack compilation features three of Jimmy Cliff's most popular songs (and two remixes of them), and a nice smattering of reggae classics from other prominent reggae artists. My favorite is "Johnny Too Bad" from The Slickers. Catchy throughout, this album along with anything by Bob Marley is the most accessible reggae for the casual listener.
![]() | Heart of the Congos by The Congos
Buy used from: $23.98 Long thought of as a "lost classic", this album finally got the treatment it justly deserved, being remastered and re-released. Then, inexplicably, this version it is out of print! For shame! Features what many critics say is Scratch Perry's finest production work of all-time.

![]() | Legend - The Best Of Bob Marley And The Wailers (New Packaging) by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Buy new: $10.49 / Used from: $7.96 The single disc option for Marley's greatest hits. I would like to point out that Marley's entire collection is top shelf and any disc would be a worthwhile addition. Check out (in chronological order) Soul Rebels, Catch a Fire, African Herbsman, Burnin', Natty Dread, Live!, Exodus, Kaya, Survival, Uprising, and the posthumous, Confrontation.

![]() | Bobby Bobylon by Freddie McGregor
Buy new: $17.98 / Used from: $9.98 "Bobby Bobylon," one of the sweetest names ever conceived for a song. Pure genius, as is the rest of this beautifully rendered compilation. Freddie was blessed with the pipes of a cherub.
![]() | Hail H.I.M. by Burning Spear

![]() | Police & Thieves by Junior Murvin
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $7.81 You inevitably hear talk of this and Max Romeo's Upsetter album being held up as the two finest moments of Scratch Perry's production career. Fair assessment. Junior is a bit falsetto-y, but his vocal skills make up for it.
