Another beautifully written script by Lucas. It's simply a masterwork.

Another sci-fi masterwork that gets you punch-drunk off dialogue alone. I actually preferred the version with the Harrison Ford voice-over. I know that's not politically correct to say. However, people need to watch it both ways.

The mark of a great film is, can it be watched 20, 50, 100 years later, and still be relevant, classy and powerful. This film will always be all of those things. Filmmakers today are still mining its elements.

Schwarzenegger's first appearance as Terminator was what I call a "blue collar masterpiece". It made leather jackets, bikers, camouflage and garden apartments, part of the sci-fi dictionary.

A lot of people aren't going to be happy about this. I put a sequel on this list, and I am leaving of the original. The original Alien is one of the greatest films ever made. However for me it doesn't qualify as strictly sci-fi. If anything, it's one of the greatest horror films ever made. The remote cabin is replaced by the remote spaceship.

Stanley Kubrick's epic sci-fi masterpiece. It works on so many levels, and will forever.

The original Dune film was good, but I felt the Sci-Fi TV miniseries was much more faithful to the source material, and added many more story-making elements. I wish they produced that for theaters, and had given it an R-rating though.

This, along with The Matrix, are actually 2 of my favorites in the genre. The film was so real (and turns out, so relevant, with these gas prices). Mel Gibson had a beat-down, but can-do attitude about his life.

Another great political message in a film. Wasn't very popular in theaters, but a missed opportunity for those who haven't watched it on the big screen.

I thought Will played this role extremely well. Although the don't think it was better than Charleton Heston's Omega Man film, it was handled very well. I am looking forward to seeing Will use his star power to produce more good sci-fi.

Another neo-noir film, with Tom Cruise on the run for a murder he hasn't yet committed. Steven Spielberg did a brilliant job with the material. Janusz Kaminski is a master Cinematographer.

The reason there's only a couple Japanese anime movies on this list, is that many of the SCI-FI anime films that I've seen, don't successfully match action and engaging storyline with breathtaking visuals, which they always have. Appleseed does that very well.
