The final countdown?

On December 21, 2012, the Mayan calendar will complete its thirteenth cycle. According to the Mayan belief system, the world will end. And if you don’t believe the Mayans, you can check in with The Bible Code, The Nostradamus Code, or The Orion Prophecy, all of which predict planet-wide doom. Then again, maybe the year 2012 is just a new opportunity. Could 2012 bring us good things instead of bad? This book gives readers a look at what the Mayan prophecy is all about, what it means to them, and much more.

•Addresses Mayan predictions about global warming and climate change
•Includes a glossary of terms and symbols, resources for a changing world, and exercises to assist the reader in their journey
•The existence of almost 600,000 websites on 2012 indicates a huge fascination with this subject

Customer Reviews

great guides5
Synthia and Colin Andrews are great guides into the mysteries that surround the 2012 Mayan prophesies. Well written and easily understandable, "2012" leads the reader on a multi-faceted journey into the past, while offering very plausible theories about our future. It is an engaging read that was enjoyable for myself,a creative arts therapist, as well as my husband, who has less fluency with 'energy language'. Both of us felt the information was conveyed in an ethical manner, and that both authors' voices blended seemlessly to create a well-grounded as well as intellectually stimulating read.

Finally, a realistic view of 20125
Having worked in the FBI for over 30 years I run sort of skeptical on
prophecies of the future. Yet, I found this just the right read for all the fuss over 2012. It is simple, understandable yet erudite. The Andrews, from what I have read and gather from their background, are very knowledgeable in what they do - and it shows! The book is filled with
information and warnings - warnings as to where one can go off the edge.
Their feet are certainly on the ground as they offer possibilities in the future based on traditions of the past. What more can one ask? Whether you are a "believer" or not does not matter. Rest assured, even if you only seek information about 2012 as a social obligation, as it will be on many lips, this is the book to get what you need to know. And, if you
believe there may be something to it, and I do, there are some good tips as to what to do. So, for we fellow "Idiot's" this book is quite erudite, simple and uncomplicated. I recommend it highly.

Irresponsible repetition of misleading rumors/prophecies1
On the front cover flap next to the authors' signatures is a warning that this book may send you on an "emtional rollercoaster" ride. It will and it is an entirely unnecessary and futile stressor for what amounts to a fear-based teaching. The authors stand to be criticised for a very poor choice of source material when high quality material is available.

Both authors are very bright people who should know better. I gave the book one of five stars because one fifth of the book (Part 5) is uplifting and worth reading, the rest is the worst of the cosmic rumor mill.

This authors want to be sure to cover all the bases, in a hurry, so that as round and round we go we never get a chance to stop and smell the roses. They don't seem to want to give more than two or three paragraphs to anyone or anything in their efforts. So we get a mish-mash of misunderstandings from poorly chosen source material which results in a confused reader who is never given a chance to truly appreciate what might be going on.

The potential 2012 audience is divided into two main camps, the mayan crowd and the New Age prophecy crowd. The mayan source material is dated and fuzzy and subject to radical misinterpretation. The key authors are all over the map with their personal opinions and conclusions which certainly isn't going to give piece of mind and useful guidance to readers. Roughly half of this book is Mayan based. The New Age material seems to have been chosen by picking the most controversial lunatic fringe authors and placing them side by side to make the debunking chapter later in the book more believable.

Unfortunately the authors of this book are so scattered as to bring disrepute to 2012 ideas from any source. It is to the credit of these authors that the book does allow for the idea that 2012 is somehow linked to spiritual growth and that this should be taken seriously. This is covered in Part 5 at the end of the book, but since the bulk of the book is a fear-based compendium of horrors, it is too little, too late to offset the damage unless the reader chooses to ignore most of the book. The authors seem to have a negative fixation about the photon belt which is mentioned over and over throughout the book without really saying much more than that lots of people have heard about it or seem to believe in it.

The authors give passing mention of the name Ken Carey, an early mystic that gives serious detailed attention to the idea that we would have a New Earth, a new human species and a new global consciousness for all of mankind that would bring DRAMATIC changes for the human race. None of his ideas or writings are examined. The authors do, however, mention the Keys of Enoch, an important book, in Part 5. The energies that will bring about the 2012 changes came in waves every ten years starting in the late sixties. The Gildas communications were the first to give a detailed description in 1968 and was not mentioned. James Hurtak and Ken Carey were the next to come forward in the late seventies and both are mentioned in passing. A whole bevy of writers in the late eighties and early nineties were also totally ignored as were any other significant authors after that. In short the authors give very shallow coverage to important aspects of the subject they have chosen. They devote three whole pages to a discussion of Revelations as well!

Bible thumpers would probably be tempted to characterize most of this as disinformation with a remark like "satanic sludge." It certainly doesn't appear to serve any useful purpose other than cashing in on the 2012 marketing frenzy that many publishers are currently engaged in. There are dozens of similar books flooding the market to which these remarks would equally apply. I have examine a couple dozen of the most popular of the hundred or so 2012 titles and not seen one with a positive informed message. Fear sells.

This treatment does not sufficiently emphasize the sacred nature of the event and truly honor All That Is as the source of the initiative. It focuses on the negative aspects of the event which will cause problems for readers at the time of the event. Fear is the single biggest factor that will hold you back and there is plenty of it in this book.

So if you want to run around in circles hopping from one meaningless author to the next in a mad race to nowhere, buy this book and jump on the merrygoround of fear, I am sure you will not be disappointed and that you will be able to fill your mind with the idle speculations of all types from authors who do not yet understand the inner workings of the dramatic changes that are upon us.

But if you think of yourself as an undiminished being ready to absorb and bathe yourself in the undiluted inner teachings of a master prophet, I suggest you reread the early works of Ken Carey like Starseed Transmissions, Vision, and Third Millennium and feel your heart chakra open to the wisdom and love that surrounds you. You could also look at the amazon listmania compilation called SpiritWritings New Earth/Great Shift Reading List for a responsibly-chosen list of uplifting core titles.
