Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7)Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7) by J. K. Rowling
Buy new: $20.99 / Used from: $5.25
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the best book I have ever read. The action, emotion, and storyline are unrivaled by any other Harry Potter book. I could not put the book down after I picked it up and read it in less than two days. There is nothing bad to say about it. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the Harry Potter series, and anyone who loves a good fantasy book!
Eldest (Inheritance, Book 2)Eldest (Inheritance, Book 2) by Christopher Paolini
Buy new: $10.39 / Used from: $2.30
Eldest is also another great book! I loved the way Paolini could develop the characters so well. I don’t have many bad things to say. Many people believe that Paolini plagiarized and I understand their argument. However, I think he used well-known series and books as an inspiration to write his. I will recommend this book to anyone who liked Harry Potter and enjoys fantasy/adventure books.
The Dealer (Cherub)The Dealer (Cherub) by Robert Muchamore
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $1.07
The Dealer is the second book in the Cherub series. It is my favorite out of all these books. Muchamore’s idea for the Cherub series is great and he keeps it going with this book. His characterization of everyone in the book is excellent. He wrote to the current day generation of kids. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys spy/action books. If you enjoyed Alex Rider you’ll love this.
Divine Madness (Cherub)Divine Madness (Cherub) by Robert Muchamore
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.56
Divine Madness was one of my favorite Cherub books. I thought this book had an interesting plot. There were a lot of details included in this book and the plot moved very fast. At sometimes however, I thought the plot moved too fast to understand. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like a good adventure book. If you liked any of the other Cherub books you’ll love this one.
Maximum Security (Cherub)Maximum Security (Cherub) by Robert Muchamore
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.10
Maximum Security is a very exciting book. Muchamore brought the reader into the story with James. I felt like I was breaking out with him. However, he did not develop the secondary characters enough. I would recommend this book to anyone who is reading the Cherub series and enjoys an adventure book. I would suggest that you read the previous books in the series first however.
Man vs. Beast (Cherub)Man vs. Beast (Cherub) by Robert Muchamore
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.07
Man vs. Beast was not my favorite Cherub book, but it was still good. I thought the topic was probably the only reason I did not like it. The beginning of the book did not have much excitement and was mainly just informative. Muchamore should have included a twist in the beginning to keep the reader interested. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read the previous books in the series.
The Fall (CHERUB)The Fall (CHERUB) by Robert Muchamore
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $17.96
The Fall was also one of my favorite Cherub books. It started off right away with James in trouble. This caught my attention from the beginning and did not let go. I liked the way Muchamore had two different narrations in his other books, but The Fall did not have this interesting way of writing. I suggest that you only read this book after you’ve read the other books in the series.
Ghosts of Onyx (Halo)Ghosts of Onyx (Halo) by Eric Nylund
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.35
Halo: Ghosts of Onyx goes a different way from all the other Halo books. Instead of the constant action and fighting in the others, this one deals with the growing up of the new generation Spartans. This book was not as good as the others. I felt at times it moved a little slowly. If you are also a fan of the video game or any other combat books you may like this book.
Stormbreaker (Alex Rider Adventure)Stormbreaker (Alex Rider Adventure) by Anthony Horowitz
Buy used from: $0.01
Stormbreaker is a great introduction to the Alex Rider adventure. Horowitz’s ability to develop Alex and give the reader a background on his life so quickly is amazing. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the way it was told not shown. Horowitz needs to show the reader what’s happening, not tell the reader. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed spy and adventure books.
Point Blank (Alex Rider Adventures)Point Blank (Alex Rider Adventures) by Anthony Horowitz
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.46
Point Blank is the second book in the Alex Rider series. This a good book, with a lot of action. I believe Horowitz could have wrote more detailed and developed the characters a little more. Sometimes, I also thought his ideas were a little unrealistic. I would recommend this to people who liked the Cherub series and other spy books. If you enjoy non-stop action, then you should read this book.
Fire WithinFire Within by Chris D'lacey
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.98
The Fire Within is a bad, boring book. The plot moved too slowly and the few twists included in the book were not very exciting. It was a boring book about someone writing a book, saving squirrels, and making clay dragons. On the positive side, Chris D’lacey has the ability to come up with excellent ideas. I recommend this book to 5th to 8th graders that enjoy fairy tales and fantasy.
Flowers for Algernon: Student EditionFlowers for Algernon: Student Edition by Daniel Keyes
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
Flowers for Algernon is an average book. It had an interesting storyline that caught my attention. However, the book did not keep my attention. The way Keyes writes the book as Charlie’s journal is a better way for the reader to understand Charlie more. I recommend this book to people who enjoy slower, less-involved books.
Summer BallSummer Ball by Mike Lupica
Buy used from: $5.42
Summer Ball was my favorite Lupica book. It was written so detailed that I sometimes I wish I was in the book. Summer Ball is a great example an author writing about something he loves. You could see how much passion put into the story. I would recommend this book to all sports lovers, especially basketball. If you have read any other Lupica books, you would probably like this one.
Travel TeamTravel Team by Mike Lupica
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
Travel Team is another Lupica classic. It was not my favorite of all the Lupica sports books but it was still a good read. Travel Team was a detailed book that interested me the entire time I was reading it. The only thing I did not like about it was the lack of excitement throughout the plot. I would recommend this book to all sports lovers and realistic fiction readers.
HeatHeat by Mike Lupica
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.12
Heat is a great sports book. I love reading Lupica and this is one of his classics. The way Lupica shows you inside of Michael’s life is great. Lupica gives details that help you live the story in your head as you read. I would recommend this book to all sports fans. If you have ever played Little League Baseball and dreamed of making it to the LLWS then this book is perfect for you
Battle RoyaleBattle Royale by Koushun Takami
Buy new: $10.85 / Used from: $6.65
Battle Royale is an intense book. I liked the way Takami switched between narrators. It was pretty interesting to watch as each contestant got eliminated as the stakes got higher. The twist near the end of the book completely shocked me. I do not recommend this book for the squeamish. If you enjoy a thriller that will keep you disgusted but curious at the same time you’ll love this book.
Monster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang MemberMonster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member by Sanyika Shakur
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $6.00
Monster was a very fascinating book. This autobiography showed me a way of life that I have never seen before. The amounts of details included in this book were stunning. He brought the reader into the hood and jail with him. This book is a good read for a lot of people. It is very amazing what these people go through and the loyalty they have to their gang.
KeeperKeeper by Mal Peet
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $0.95
Keeper is average book. The beginning starts off boring and uninteresting. However, the middle and the end of the book are good. I felt a little confused towards the end of the book. I felt like Peet should have cleared this part up a little more. This book is not only a soccer book, it’s a book filled with life lessons. I would recommend this book to someone who understands and enjoys soccer.
The Pilgrims of Rayne (Pendragon)The Pilgrims of Rayne (Pendragon) by D. J. MacHale
Buy new: $12.23 / Used from: $5.95
The Pilgrims of Rayne was also a very good book. MacHale has very original ideas and he has the ability to make these ideas into a great story. His perfect use of dialogue and narration helps to tell this story. However, to understand this book you have to read the first seven. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an adventure book with some fantasy too.
The Bourne IdentityThe Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum
Buy used from: $1.98
Bourne Identity was a great book. Ludlum can write a great action mystery. The details of his encounters are in-depth and electrifying. I felt it might have been a little too long and could sometimes be confusing. I would recommend this book for advanced readers in high school, and anyone above. This is an awesome read for a person who loves thrilling and dangerous mysteries.
Relic (Pendergast, Book 1)Relic (Pendergast, Book 1) by Douglas Preston
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.01
Relic is one of my favorite books. Its storyline is very mysterious and there is a twist in every chapter. Preston’s use of narration was very good. I enjoyed the many different people’s stories and watching as they came together. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading Indiana Jones (or something similar). This book is not meant for anyone who gets disgusted easily.
Looking for AlaskaLooking for Alaska by John Green
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $1.82
Looking for Alaska is a good book. Green made the reader feel exactly what Miles is feeling. However, sometimes I felt like the characters acted incorrectly according to the circumstances. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sad, emotional realistic fiction books. It’s the perfect book for a typical teenager, but if you enjoy happy endings this is probably not the book for you.
Miracle on 49th StreetMiracle on 49th Street by Mike Lupica
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $0.55
Miracle on 49th Street is another great Lupica book. This book is more serious and emotional than any of his others. Lupica develops all of the characters perfectly. Even though there wasn’t much excitement, I really enjoyed it. If you liked any of his others you will love this one. It’s also a great book for sports fans everywhere.
Give a Boy a GunGive a Boy a Gun by Todd Strasser
Buy new: $5.99 / Used from: $0.40
Give a Boy a Gun was a terrible book. I thought the narration was terrible. Strasser had a great idea, but it was not well written and he made some mistakes in the story. It’s got to be a little realistic, no matter how horrible it may be. I would not recommend any one read this book, there are better books about school shootings out there.
