Customer Reviews
great!
This is a terrific album that features some of Sawyer Brown's greatest early hits. From songs like "Leona" and "Step that Step" to "Heart don't fall now" and "Used to Blue," there is a wide variety of songs on this album. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of this awesome group. A true winner.
In the beginning when their music was just for fun
Sawyer Brown carved their own niche in country music with their brand of mostly lightweight, upbeat songs but with the occasional serious song. As their career progressed, the number of serious songs increased. This collection of their music covering the eighties emphasises the upbeat songs, although Used to blue is a reflective song of the type that they recorded more of as the years went by.
The set begins with Step that step, one of their big hits from their brilliant debut album, which also yielded Leona and Used to blue. Betty's being bad and Out going catting are pure fun, definitely not to be taken too seriously. The race is on is a nicely updated cover of the old George Jones classic.
This compilation is for everybody who believes that country music should be fun.
Fantasic hits, fantastic group
Sawyer Brown have always been one of my favourite country groups. From up tempo numbers like "Step that Step" to lovely ballads like "Heart don't fall now", this is their first greatest hits package, 1984-1990, and they are still going strong. A lot of groups come and go in a wink of an eye, but Sawyer Brown are keepers. As it says in the liner notes.."Sawyer Brown can bring out the Yeeee-Hah's as well as the hipsters." Give this a listen...you'll love it. Oh, and Mark Miller's voice is to die for!
