Playing punk pop for teenagers hooked on MTV may inflate your bank account, but it doesn't do much for your credibility. Fortunately, Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge and drummer Travis Barker, two-thirds of the multiplatinum crew, found a way around this quandary. The pair formed Box Car Racer and recorded this album, which strips back the gloss and brings on the noise. Referencing explosive hardcore groups like Fugazi and Refused, who encase their euphoric melodies with barbwire riffs and earsplitting rhythms, may sound like an ominous route. But while Box Car Racer songs like "Maybe I Don't" and "I Feel So" take on weightier subject matter than Blink-182's typical slapstick fare, it's ultimately not that big of a departure. The record was produced by Jerry Finn, who helmed Blink-182's last three albums, and features singer-bassist Mark Hoppus as a guest vocalist. --Aidin Vaziri

Good album
Here it is plain and simple. If you like blink-182 then you will like this album. If you do not like blink or any other band associated(ie:+44, Transplants, Angels and Airwaves) with blink then chances are you won't.

This album has a raw feeling to it and is not as processed as other blink albums. This is probably some of Tom DeLonge's better work.

What an album!
This album surpassed any of the expectations i had before purchasing it!
I would reccommend it to any Blink182 fan!

Beautiful small thing
As side projects go, this one simply works. I just keep coming back to it for some reason. It's Blinky in all the right ways, while pushing Blink's more scatological material aside for the moment and going more in the direction of "Adam's Song." I can hardly object.

I can't help but worship the phenomenal work that Travis does on these songs. (Yeah, drummer speaking.) Tom's voice remains glaringly untrained, but that's always been a big part of Blink's brash charm, and it works here as well. "I Feel So" is a tall drink of water, as are "And I" and "There Is." (Okay, so they don't always finish their phrases. Thou shalt forgive.)
