Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Four years after her last album, 2001's Inside Out, Trisha Yearwood returns with a solid effort that reclaims her place on country radio, particularly with the evocative, bittersweet ballad "Georgia Rain," on which her fiancé, Garth Brooks, contributes quiet harmony. Brooks isn't the only notable guest on Jasper County--Ronnie Dunn drops by on "Try Me," and Beth Nielsen Chapman (always one of Yearwood's favorite tunesmiths) harmonizes on "Trying to Love You," one of the album's prettiest heartbreak songs. Yearwood varies her repertoire with such loose and funky numbers as "Pistol" and "Sweet Love" (where she's on the make in a dangerous blue dress) and the hypnotic song of swirling romantic obsession, "River of You." But while never less than thoroughly enjoyable, the album somehow falls shy of her best work. Yearwood remains one of the genre's finest interpretive singers, but this collection lacks a song that showcases the full range and power of her glorious soprano, and also falls short in delivering a ballad that brings her (and us) to her knees. It's great to have the multi-Grammy winner back, but aside from "Georgia Rain," most of Jasper County sounds closer to a bullpen warm-up than a home-run hit. --Alanna Nash

This is a reissue of the 2005 album with one bonus track, "Love Will Always Win," a duet with Garth Brooks.

Jasper County3
I bought this CD solely for the title song, which I fell in love with the first time I heard it. I must've listened to it hundreds of times and I never tire of it. The other songs? Couldn't tell you since I keep my player on "repeat".

Fantastic CD !!5
Wow!! This a great recording. Trisha's voice is in fine form, as always. Some fantastic songs that any Trisha fans will enjoy and it's sure to create some new fans. There's not a bad song here.

The Best is Yet To Come5
Jasper County is not just good it's great! Trisha Yearwood started out with a hit,and she is still making them.

The song "Georgia Rain" went to number # 1 on the first Jasper County album released, and it has a gentle way of singing about the past and present thoughts and memories of a love long gone.

Other songs such as "Pistol","Who Invented The Wheel", and "River of You" have a more upbeat, but not rock 'N' roll, musical pace with a country flavor of bad relations and heartache.

"Standing Out in a Crowd" is a song most of us can relate to with a country flavor ,and educational as well as grasping lyrics about being different. The best thought is that Standing out in a crowd, instead of shying away,is the best way to be unnoticed.

A few songs may be melodically bluesy, but the country flavor is there. A fictional, yet realistic message in the song and about country music, too.

Finally, the duet with Garth Brooks added on a re-release titled"Love will Always Win" has music that's a winner to the ear(somewhat soft and mellow, but not too much),and topping off the beautiful blend of their voices,it has been nominated for a 2007 Grammy Award.
