Since Toby Keith's commercial success and canny image manipulation show how shrewd he is, perhaps the best explanation for songs as lackluster as "Note to Self" (a generic Rolling Stones arrangement with a hokey lyric) and "Runnin' Block" (about bedding an unattractive woman for the benefit of a buddy) are either laziness or pandering. On White Trash with Money, his first release on his own Show Dog imprint (and without longtime producer James Stroud), Keith occasionally appears to be stretching himself--on the string-laden balladry of "A Little Too Late," the tender "Crash Here Tonight," and perhaps his finest vocal performance to date on "Too Far This Time"--but often seems to be coasting. "Get Drunk and Be Somebody," "Grain of Salt," and "Brand-New Bow" are never less (and little more) than dumb fun, while "Can't Buy You Money" is a clever twist on the "money can't buy you love" adage. The most contentious track here, "Ain't No Right Way," is just waving a red flag at those who refuse to reduce complex issues to simple black-and-white. Keith insists that he only writes as many songs as he needs to record; this time, some quality control might have required writing a few more. --Don McLeese

TKIFC Review of WTWM.....5
"White Trash With Money"
Where do I start to even begin to comment and review such an incredible CD...Toby never ceases to amaze the people, the country crowd, the music industry and continues to bring in FANS by the 1000's. WTWM is but yet another stepping stone in the Oklahoma Country Cowboys career that is going to leave lasting footprints and impressions in peoples lives, with the type of songs and lyrics on this particular CD. WE wanted to hear ballads, we got BALLADS, we wanted to hear BUS SONGS, We got BUS SONGS, WE wanted true to life songs, WE we got those too...Toby has many AWESOME CD's out there, and he just continues to keep them coming, what more can FANS ask for from the BEST ENTERTAINER OUT THERE. The songs on the CD all speak to me in some way, shape or form, with life always taking so many different twists and turns, Toby just about covers them all on this CD, and I love songs that can TELL YOU A STORY with only a few lines....they are the ones that get in there and stick for along time.....

1. GD&BS ~ a song in a league of its own, its one heck of a party song and this will leave alot of empty seats in the house druing a show, as everyone will be on their feet during this one...Which is ALL GOOD !!

2. A Little Too Late ~ Now tell me "who here hasnt been either as the initiator or the receiver" through a situation like this? Toby puts it into words and makes it seem like "its nothing we cant get past".

3. Can't Buy You Money ~ Only DA MAN, Toby could take an everyday longtime, quote like "All the Money in the world cant buy you Happiness" and turn it around put a whole new SPIN on it and make it WORK for us. It comes so naturally.

4. CRASH HERE TONIGHT ~ A Ballad from the heart and soul, one that is constantly a part of everyday life for many of us, one that can reach deep inside and make you want to fall in love all over again or atleast give it one more try, and let em "Sing you one more love song". Truly a goosebump producing song WTG TOBY we asked and you delivered.

5. Grain of Salt ~ Dont we all take life with a "Grain of Salt" at some point or another as we walk on through it??? Toby expresses this "way of life" in a very REAL way.

6. I Aint Already There ~ I dont think this one needs a few words, these FOUR words say it all.....How many times have I thought or have you??

7. NOTE TO SELF ~ THE OLD DOG HOUSE, HELP ME OUT SONG....What a great song to remind us that we "Better NOT" or they will be "ALREADY GONE" Toby took simple life living, and turned it into a KNOCK OUT HIT !! Only He can do that the way he does so easily and remain "OUT OF THE DOG HOUSE". (no pun intended) :o)

8. Too Far This Time ~ I believe this song will touch everyone who hears it in a way to make them feel "they are not the only ones that have been in this position" it sheds light on what we have all dealt with at one time or another. Toby takes the truth and puts it in perspective to make us feel as if its ok to say "you've gone alittle to far this time". Something we all deal with in and out of personal relationships.

9. Aint No Right Way ~ Toby steps up the plate again here with another "true to life song" Truths others are never gonna say or sing about. When I first heard this song, TEARS streamed down my face, he SAYS what so many want to say but DONT..and turned it into a beautiful song with heartfelt meaning and the only way to ones heart is through TRUTHS. And Toby did that here. Have to say this is probably my FAVORITE at this time.

10, 11 and 12 ~ The Bus Songs, Brand New Bow, Hell No, and Runnin Block...Songs to make all the seriousness in life take a back seat for a bit..Its great to hear the "perks" of being on the bus, and to be a part of what Toby and his buddies do when they are not entertaining a crowd. Just being normal people singing about "SILLY, CRAZY, HILARIOUS" moments that have occured in someones life at some point. To put those experiences in song format is something I am sure they have a blast with after all the pressures of putting on a great show or making a new CD are overwith.

In overall, I always get alittle nervous when a new CD is coming out, but I have to say, this is BUT yet another WELL DONE ACCOMPLISHMENT. Toby just continues to OUT DO himself everytime, and I think the country and world will NOT be dissappointed with this one either. And the Pink Flamingo, well that was just the icing on the cake, and its a good thing I got more than ONE because I am wearing this CD OUT....THANK YOU TOBY, EASY MONEY, SCOTTY EMERICK, MANY OTHERS AND SHOWDOG FOR GIVING US ANOTHER "NUMBER ONE CD".

"NOW just who kicked that SLEEPING DOG?" TOBY DID !!!!!

WAY TO GO BIG DAWG !!!!!!

Dissapointed2
I was a huge fan of Toby Keith; before this album came out. I can accept the constant reference to an artist's idea of a perfect woman. But "Runnin Block" was downright dissappointing. If that's how Toby feels about imperfect women; I just can't enjoy his songs without thinking how shallow and insensitive he is.

Could be Toby's BEST EVER!!!5
This could be the VERY BEST of the BEST...The Big Dawg might have 'outdone' himself on this one. The instrumentation is WONDERFUL...and Toby's wit and talent REALLY shine! Personal favorites are 'Crash Here Tonight', 'Grain of Salt', and 'A Little Too Far This Time'...Oh, and "Ain't No Right Way' brings tears to my eyes each and every time I listen, so it can't be excluded. Bussongs are a HOOT...thanks for the grin, BIG T...I am thrilled with the new label, the new album, and SO VERY PROUD to be a fan. TKIFC Warrior cccookie :o)
