My favorite music since 2000

SpectatorsSpectators by Wolfsheim
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $8.95
If you think music has gone to the gutter and there is nothing worthwhile or innovative out there buy this CD. Fans of alternative rock, electronica and industrial can find something here. Once in a lifetime and Read the Lines are strong tracks but Heroin might be my all-time favorite song which is saying a lot.
Casting ShadowsCasting Shadows by Wolfsheim
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $6.05
My wife hates Peter Heppner's distinctive vocals but I crank the volume anyway. Start with Spectators if you are new to them.
Welcome to EarthWelcome to Earth by Apoptygma Berzerk
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $1.94
The first Apop CD. Depeche Mode meets Nine Inch Nails industrial with some dance beats.
You and Me Against the WorldYou and Me Against the World by Apoptygma Berzerk
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $10.13
An album that is less industrial and more pop oriented from Apop. Combines 80s Synthesizers with 90s alternative and dance grooves. While this album divided their fanbase, I personally think the hit a homerun with it.
HarmonizerHarmonizer by Apoptygma Berzerk
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $4.65
A transition CD from their industrial roots this album shows experimentation with dance grooves and female vocals.
Hot FussHot Fuss by The Killers
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $3.90
Sounds like all my favorite groups rolled into one! New Order, U2, Oasis, Depeche Mode, etc...
Sam's TownSam's Town by The Killers
Buy new: $12.49 / Used from: $5.43
I don't like it as much as the first CD, but it's still very good.
The BraveryThe Bravery by The Bravery
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $1.89
A surprising debut from the New York City based act. Catchy Clash/Punk like song structures with 80-90s new wave vocals, guitars and synths.
The Sun And The MoonThe Sun And The Moon by The Bravery
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $3.29
Much of this CD is slower and more introspective than their debut but it is still pretty solid.
WolfmotherWolfmother by Wolfmother
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $3.89
The CD rocks out with any of the 1970s acts it pays homage to. Deep Purple, Led Zep, early Queen, Black Sabbath. Cudos for the fantasy inspired artwork and lyrics which could be taken straight from Heavy Metal magazine.
ParachutesParachutes by Coldplay
Buy new: $6.99 / Used from: $2.35
Low-key debut from the Heirs-apparent to U2.
A Rush of Blood to the HeadA Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $2.88
Innovative use of off-beat time signatures to spectacular effect. A great album beginning to end.
X&YX&Y by Coldplay
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $4.00
Expands on the musical direction of A Rush of Blood adding in swirling psychedelic guitar structures similar to fellow Brits like The Verve and Gilmore era Pink Floyd.
Northern LightNorthern Light by Covenant
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $7.99
Industrial Synth music. At times awe-inspiring on tracks such as Bullet and Invisible and Silent. Again recommended for fans of groups like Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode.
SkyshaperSkyshaper by Covenant
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $7.96
Another solid effort. Ritual Noise, Brave New World and 20 Hz are my favorites.
KasabianKasabian by Kasabian
Buy new: $13.98 / Used from: $3.29
The Europeans and Brits just seem to do music better and when you think they are out of tricks along comes Kasabian. Cross-genre alt rockers add synths, middle eastern melodies and 60s psychedelia.
EmpireEmpire by Kasabian
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $0.92
A followup album that is as strong as the debut. Surprising considering that guitarist/keyboardist/songwriter Chris Karloff departed while they recorded this CD.
