Editorial Reviews

On the DVDs
A prestigious, award-winning drama series like The West Wing deserves first-class treatment on DVD, and the Complete Series Collection really delivers the goods. Like the series itself, the packaging is first-class all the way. The entire DVD set is held in a dossier file box, with a faux-leather navy blue exterior graced with an embossed silver-foil presidential seal and a magnet-sealing flap that neatly closes the lid with no visible latches or clasps. The 45 DVDs are held in seven individually tabbed and numbered fold-out files (one for each complete season) with a pocket for each DVD and West Wing cast members pictured on each fold-out file. (In addition, the DVDs themselves are labeled with a photo of the entire primary cast.) And while the audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, gag reels, and other DVD extras remain the same from the previous individual-season DVD sets, the glossy, lavishly illustrated episode guide is exclusive to this set, and it's a convenient one-stop source for specific episode information. Also exclusive to this set is Aaron Sorkin's Emmy-nominated teleplay for the pilot episode, along with a new foreword by Sorkin detailing the genesis of the series from concept to casting. You can bet that Sorkin and his West Wing colleagues are pleased with the overall presentation of this full-series collection; it's durable, impressively stately without being ostentatious (like President Jed Bartlet himself), and guaranteed to look great on any bookshelf. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews

The West Wing - The Complete Series5
A mighty well done to cast and writers and the direction and production of this fine public service and rare superbly entertaining series.

This is a wonderful compilation of one of the finest series on the American Political system that I have ever had the pleasure of watching. The complete series viewed on a multi disk player makes the experience even more rich than it is without the interruptions of commercials or changing disk. [or turning them over over as with the original dual sided disks.] The quick repartee, the dry wit and inside humor is delivered as sharp as it was written and equally improved by the ad libs that made there way into production. I have bought and given away copies of this series to several and am continually please as how it repeatedly portrays that which we see in the current political arena.

Following the birth and passing of an administration with all of it's internal crisis, personal sacrifices, daily humors and tragedies are a real insight into why men and women who enter the offices as middle aged adults, leave gray and weathered.

Best written show -- ever!5
The West Wing has to be the best written show for television ever. Not to mention the stellar acting and directing done consistently throughout the series. This unparalled quality endures the times with great story lines and character development that are rich with detail and ripe with irony. I recomment this DVD collection to the die-hard fan as well as to the uninitiated.

Timely, prophetic, entertaining5
This is one of the best series ever. While watching the episodes I am continually amazed at how prophetic Sorkin and team were in their plots.
