It's Not 1988 Anymore...5
I always laugh when I hear people complaining that the newer episodes are so "bad". They're not bad by any standards, they are simply different.

The Simpsons have been around since the 1980's and our society has changed quite a bit throughout that time period. If they continued to make episodes like they did in the 90's, you same people would be complaining that they weren't trying hard enough; that they were relying on the same old, tired formulas.

Sure, you could argue that they could have just stopped making new episodes and moved on to something completely new, but if this is your opinion then you are categorically NOT a Simpsons purist, as you may claim. Society has changed, people's interests have evolved, technology has advanced by leaps and bounds. This is not the same world it was in 1999. The Simpsons' has always been about taking pieces of our culture and satirizing them.

Sure, the style has changed and character personalities have evolved, but it's still the same show it was during the first 10 years.

Greatest Show Ever5
I think it's so funny when people take the time to write that The
Simpsons has gone downhill. The show isn't what it used to be.
It is by far and away the best show on tv. There is nothing even in the same leauge as The Simpsons.
Go watch your Seinfeld reruns (Worst show ever!). Those writers wish they could write one show as funny as any 5 mins of a Simpsons episode. I count my lucky stars that a show this good has actually lasted this long.
When you consider what else is on TV,you realize what a miracle The Simpsons really is.
If you're tired of the show, move on. Leave the rest of us to enjoy the genius of The Simpsons. CSI is on now, isn't it...?

Ok, seriously, what is the freakin' HOLD UP?!?! South Park and Family Guy are releasing dvd's as their seasons COME OUT. Granted, the Simpsons has some catching up to do, but good GOD...
