![]() | The Philip K. Dick Reader by Philip K. Dick
Buy new: $10.85 / Used from: $4.89 This is my personal Bible of Philip K Dick stories. A Scanner Darkly, The Golden Man, The Hanging Man, We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, and many more can be found here. This is a great way to introduce yourself into the worlds of Philip K. Dick, with over 25 stories to gnash into.

![]() | Ubik (Solaris) (Spanish Edition) by Philip K. Dick
Buy new: $23.66 This is a great starter book for Philip K. Dick readers. It touches on a lot of his common themes - a futuristic dystopian world, a controlling government, and it also introduces his facination with psychic abilities that would lead to novels like Minority Report.

![]() | Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
Buy new: $11.20 / Used from: $4.75 This is the book that led to the production of Blade Runner. It has a richer background and different plot than the Ridley Scott film. This story, as most Dickian novels do, reflects quite a bit on personal identity as well as the right to exist, human and android alike. A very entertaining read, and a good launching point for Philip K. Dick readers.

![]() | Valis by Philip K. Dick
Buy new: $11.16 / Used from: $7.01 This one is a hard read at first. I won't lie and say I completely understand it - this book is more of a window into Philip K. Dick's personal thoughts and inner turmoil....or is it?
I'd recommend sinking your teeth into a few PKD stories before tackling this one.

![]() | A Scanner Darkly (GollanczF.) by Philip K. Dick
Buy used from: $7.50 Here's an interesting idea....what if America lost the war on drugs? Well, Philip K. Dick envisioned a future like this, and his vision was dark, indeed. The story is somewhat dated (language, interactions) but still highly enjoyable.

![]() | Clans of the Alphane Moon by Philip K. Dick
Buy new: $11.86 / Used from: $4.05 This was the story that turned me into a Philip K Dick fanatic. The science fiction feels overly simplified at times, but the story helps to balance out that shortcoming. Imagine a mental hospital, and all the divinations and classes of patients therein. Okay? Now imagine that on a planetary scale. A great read.

![]() | Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said by Philip K. Dick
Buy new: $10.36 / Used from: $4.94 Here's another diamond in the rough - Philip K. Dick won a 'best novel' award in 1975 for this story. Genetic engineering? Alternate realities? Totalitarian police states? You'll find all that in here, and more.
|
![]() | Blade Runner (Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition)
Buy used from: $99.93 For the Philip K Dick movie fan, this collector's edition is an absolute must. Owning any other version is like feeding a starving dog a rubber bone.
This has 5 cuts of the film, commentaries, photos, a replica of the Unicorn from Gaff, a Spinner police vehicle, and the whole case is a replica of the Voight-Kampff machine. The only problem you'll have is deciding where to put it on your DVD shelf.

![]() | Total Recall (Special Limited Edition)
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $2.30 This is another successful movie that got its script from Philip K. Dick's original story, "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale". The film leads Douglas Quaid to question his very existence - the question of what is real still remains a topic of debate, years after the film's theatrical run.
|
![]() | Screamers
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.98 This was a serious departure from the original PKD story "Second Variety". The low production value and average actors led to this film vanishing quickly from the theaters.
|
![]() | Impostor (Director's Cut)
Buy new: $13.49 / Used from: $1.99 With a non-existent advertising campaign and substandard acting, this movie didn't even register as a blip on the Hollywood radar; which is surprising considering the casting of Gary Sinese in the lead role.
|
![]() | Minority Report (Widescreen Two-Disc Special Edition)
Buy new: $10.49 / Used from: $0.56 One of the more successful story-to-movie adaptations, Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg showed us a future world where murder is a thing of the past. The strong advertising and charisma of Tom Cruise did the original story justice, albeit with a changed plot/ending.
|
![]() | Paycheck (Special Collector's Edition)
Buy new: $11.49 / Used from: $0.12 This movie had John Woo in the director's chair. Woo is known for his flamboyant action sequences, and it's clear the story suffered to make room for the action. While this film is entertaining, the typical bleakness of PKD's writings is not present here.
|
![]() | A Scanner Darkly
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $4.76 This movie was delayed for a year because of the rotoscoping technique used to transfer all the film to a cell-shared cartoon look. This was time well spent. The movie wasn't as successful as Minority Report or Paycheck, but the casting was spot on with Woody Harrelson, Rory Cochrane, Keanu Reeves and Robert Downey Jr. as burned out drug addicts.

![]() | Next
Buy new: $13.99 / Used from: $3.00 This movie was a far, far cry from the original Philip K. Dick story of The Golden Man. Nicholas Cage's wooden acting, Julianne Moore's obvious boredom in her role, and Jessica Biel's bubbleheaded dialogue made this a quickly forgettable film. For Philip K. Dick completists only.
