Distilling Iggy Pop's work down to 17 songs is nearly impossible. Anyone with an interest in Mr. Pop should first pick up the Stooges albums before exploring his later solo years. This collection, however, includes enough highlights to satisfy a casual fan. The Stooges are lightly covered with the essential punk anthem "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and the manic "Search and Destroy." The inclusion of the slinking "Sick of You" is a nice touch. Pop's pop leanings pop up with "Nightclubbing," "China Girl," and "Lust for Life," tracks in which the guitars are toned down a notch and Iggy exhibits a slightly more mellow side. Of course, he ultimately returns with a vengeance befitting one of rock's original wild men. --Rob O'Connor

Turn that boy loose
Best one-volume intro to Iggy. And actually, one of the very few "Best of" collections of which it could actually be said that it is not unreasonably far from the platonic ideal implied by "Best of". So buy the freakin thing and ignore the Comic Book Guys here whining that their nominee for TEH BESTEST IG SONG EVAR didn't make it onto this.
Not all of his best, but that would require a boxed set!
Iggy Pop's musical career has more hits than a hillside outside of Lebanon, so if you think this album is truly a collection of ALL his hits, you would be mistaken.
Regardless, this album still features a good variety of favorites; with some being pop radio sensations while others were more of an underground, cult classic that long time fans will smile at. Some Stooges tenure is showcased here with hits like "I wanna be your dog" and "No Fun", while the voodoo mystique opening of the track "I'm sick of you" could still send chills up a spine when listened to on a dark highway late at night. Memorable hits like "China Girl" and the addictive groove of "Lust for Life" are of course, must haves. The rocker "Wild One" is another classic that still stands tall after all this time. The fluid, beautiful song "Candy" can also be found within the track listing. If you want a collection of some of his best, this CD certainly tries to give it to you.
Iggy at his best!
All the Iggy songs that get stuck in your head in one place. The possibility of scaring your coworkers with your music is a definite bonus.
