all that glitters over the raindow is gold?
This could have been donna summers follow up to the wanderer, but in some ways i can see why geffen records did not release it. There are some very good songs on the cd, and some ok, and some that seem and sound like filler.IF im a rainbow would have been shorter, with only 11 song instead of 18, with a better cd cover, it could have worked, songs like sweet emotion, brooklyn, dont cry for me argentina, end of the weekend, ture love survives, .if you would have tracked the cd in this order, it could work . track 1. leave me alone, 2 people talk 3 melanine 4 to turn to stone, 5 walk on 6 romeo 7 highway rummer 8 runner with the pack, 9 you to me 10 im a rainbow 11 i need time. if you track these songs in an order like this, you can hear that it could have been a good if not a great release,when mercury records put this out, they could have given it alittle more TLC, like a better cover, a booklet, with pictures, and and the words to the songs, too bad , all and all its good, and if you love donnas geffen years, its a must have, out of print, and getting hearder to find.

Donna Summer: I'M A RAINBOW (1996)
In 1996, Casablanca Records had finally gave Donna Summer the greenlight to release her 1981 album entitled, I'M A RAINBOW, after fifteen years of collecting dust while sitting on the shelf. I'M A RAINBOW was released in August of 1996 as Donna's twenty-third album. I am not sure as to how well the album did on the charts, but in my opinion, the album was put together very, very well. This album is simply incredible, and I am still very pissed at Casablanca Records & Giorgio Moroder for waiting until now to have the album released. I feel the album could have done very well if it was released back in 1981. But, hey, the album is still amazing.

I BELIEVE (IN YOU) (performed by Donna Summer & Joe Esposito of BROOKLYN DREAMS)
Wow, this is a first: Donna starting off her album with a duet. She's never done this before. This is a great song. Both Donna's vocals and Joe's vocals are simply amazing. Great song.

TRUE LOVE SURVIVES
Amazing song.

I was completely blown away by this song. It is a great song.

SWEET EMOTION
Amazing.

LEAVE ME ALONE
No, Donna Summer did not cover Michael Jackson's song, for this album was originally recorded back in 1981, where Michael Jackson didn't record "Leave Me Alone" until 1987, when he recorded his 1987 album entitled, BAD. Besides, Michael Jackson's version is not a cover of this song either. They're two different songs with the same song title. Great song.

MELANIE
I have always liked this name because it is the name of both Scary Spice and Sporty Spice (both of whom are of the Spice Girls). Scary Spice's real name is Melanie Brown (but known as Melanie B.), where Sporty Spice's real name is Melanie Chisholm (but known as Melanie C.). This is a great song.

BACK WHERE YOU BELONG
Great song.

PEOPLE TALK
Great song, and you do know that this is the truth: People DO talk. You know, spreading rumours or gossiping, ratting out the mob, what have you? I don't know. Still a great song.

TO TURN THE STONE
Great song.

BROOKLYN
This song is about Donna's second daughter, Brooklyn. Unlike "Mimi's Song" (which was a song for her first daughter, Mimi, where it was performed live back in 1978 on Donna's 1978 album LIVE AND MORE, where the song was a sweet, orchestrated ballad), this track is a little bit more Smooth & Funky R&B. Great song. You can tell that she really loves her children.

I'M A RAINBOW
This track was the first of two songs from this album to be officially released before this album was officially released. The song made its first official appearance on Donna Summer's 1993 album, THE DONNA SUMMER ANTHOLOGY. Great song.

WALK ON (KEEP ON MOVIN')
Great.

RUNNER WITH THE PACK
Great.

HIGHWAY RUNNER
In 1983, two years after Donna was told that this album would not be released, this song snuck out off the shelves and landed itself on the original motion picture soundtrack to the 1983 classic comedy motion picture, FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH, starring Phoebe Cates, Judge Reignhold, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ray Wlaston, and Sean Penn (who starred as the classic character, Jeff Spicoli). Great song.

ROMEO
Seems as though "Highway Runner" was not the only song from this album to sneak out two years after the album was prevented a release. This track, which is an awesome track, by the way, also snuck out off the shelves and landed itself on the 1983 original motion picture soundtrack to the original motion picture dance classic, FLASHDANCE, starring Jennifer Beal and Cynthia Rhodes. Classic song.

I was completely blown away, where I began to wonder why Casablanca Records would prevent the album for being released originally back in 1981. But who cares? The album is out and off the shelves. All Donna Summer fans should already have this one in their Donna Summer collection.
