ZOOM !
The song Zoom is one of those songs that take me back to when I was 13 or 14 walking up and down the Wildwood NJ boardwalk looking for that perfect summer romance. The girls were so innocent back then. I can remember listening to this song on my buddy Mikes boom box and hoping it would help me get to second and maybe third base with some cutie pie I just met. Even though most times it didn't do the trick this song still reminds me of holding a girls hand and walking on the beach late at night and wishing the summer would last forever. Great toon.

Fat Larry's band always had soem tight Grooves.they didn't get alot of juice with all the Competition that was out back in the Band where Bands were concearned but they always Brought some fun&Catchy Hooks to the Mix.

Wow what a Track. First heard this song in 1982 when I was living in England and it was a big hit. All the stations were playing it. I was 17 at the time and thought that this was one of the greatest tracks I had ever heard. When the DJ's spoke about the band, Fat Larry's band from the USA. I thought that Fat Larry's band had to be "Mega" in the USA and when I came to live in the USA in 1983, it seemed that no one hear had ever heard of the Band or Zoom. I searched for the record for many years to no avail and all I had was an old Cassette tape to hear the song from time to time. Last night I was watching a Christmas special on DVD of the English Comedy Series "Only fools and Horses" and the episode was called "Diamonds for Heather". Smack bang in the middle of the show was this break aways sequence where the main charcter "Dell Trotter" is romancing his new girl friend Heather and her son". The sound track was Zoom by Fat Larry's Band and did it bring back immediate memories and some tears to hear that song again. It took me back to a time when the whole world seemed to be a simpler place and my life and career were ahead of me. As I stare 40 firmly in the face, it is just sheer magic to hear such a beautiful romantic song, taking me back to that time. One believed that if you had the right song and could say the right thing that the young lady you were interested in would "love" you forever. Well the lady's never really fell in love but the dream was still there and memories and tears still come back so many years later. Hat's off to you Fat Larry, wherever you are! These songs only seem to come once or twice in a life time. Perhaps you will get your dues here Stateside as you did in England for this most treasured of Songs. Thanks to Amazon, I will always have a good copy to listen to, in those wistful moments of memory!
