Customer Reviews

Classic NRG5
Paul Parker was taken under the wing of the great producer Patrick Cowley. Most of the tracks were produced by him untill Patricks un-timely death. He continued singing under different names and different producers. His later years, most of his music was not available here in the states. This disc contains mostly org. 12" mixes. My only complaint is "Lift Off is not the 12" vers. "Right on Target" his first and all time classic, "Shot in the Night" my fav. and a couple classics with Pamala Stanley. Most songs are from his "Megatone" years, the rest are from the UK and TSR. Well worth the price.

Classic club dance music from the 80's5
Paul Parker teamed with Patrick Cowley for many of the tracks on this compilation. Paul Parker was a frequent play and and icon in many of the clubs in New York in the early 80's.

This is an excellent compilation. Listening to the driving beat that clearly anticipates techno, the tracks on this set remain as fresh as the day they were first stamped on disks back in the 80's.

Listen to this, focus on the mix and the beat and be transported back to early morning sweaty dancing in New York at Riverclub, or at The Saint, with the starts splattered overhead across the indoor night sky.

almost right on target, but a few issues...4
It seems that this two disc set is an almost complete collection of Paul's 80s output (some of the later stuff on disc 2 might be from the 90s and is just not as electronic/Hi-nrg sounding). For me, the biggest disappointment is to not have the complete version of "Stranger (In a Strange Land)" with Pamela Stanley. It's one of my favorite songs on here, and for some reason, it sounds as if they may have faded the song in rather than starting it from the beginning of the track. The sound quality also sounds a bit 'distant' on the song. Perhaps they didn't have a good master or something? The track runs just short of 6 minutes on this disc, and the original 12" ran a little over 7 minutes. And from what I can tell, this is the ONLY CD this track has been released on. I would love to have the full length version on CD, and hope to come across it somewhere in my constant CD hunts.
