Welshman Tom Jones enjoys a spectacular homecoming in this enjoyable, family-friendly concert set on Cardiff Castle's fantastic grounds. A massive crowd sings and sways along with the pop bluesman as he warms up with assorted covers ("Hard to Handle," "Never Tear Us Apart"), tinkers with classics (a big, E Street Band-like arrangement on Elvis's "You're Right, I'm Left, She's Gone"), and attempts--ill-advisedly--a down-and-dirty version of Talking Heads' "Burning Down the House." Much better is the country effort "Without Love" and a soaring, powerful "A Boy from Nowhere." Jones' solo version of Van Morrison's "Sometimes We Cry" (Jones and Morrison recorded it together) is a lovely piece of gospel testimony, while his country blues take on Keb' Mo's "Am I Wrong" proves interesting, if a little forced. The classics work best: "Never Fall In Love Again," "Green, Green Grass," and "It's Not Unusual" still have the old pop conviction. --Tom Keogh

Tom still has "IT"5
This DVD is great. Tom is vocally excellant and still looks terrific... this is before the goatee / beard phase he is now in. The only gripe I have is that way too much attention is given to the band and back-up singers by those filming. I would rather see TJ do his thing; dancing, bumping & grinding for the ladies instead of seeing his band / singers. Overall, I recommend it and it is available on EBAY from overseas for about $15.00. I hope this helps.

This IS the one for all Tom Jones fans....5
... If you want the best live performance ever filmed featuring Tom Jones singing almost all of his greatest hits, old and new, this is the one to buy! The high quality Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS version recording is supurb, as is the picture quality. It is a must have for any serious Tom Jones fan....finally, don't miss his powerful versions of "Without Love" and "A Boy From Nowhere".
Turn up the volume on your home theatre system and sit back and watch the greatest living male pop singer in world show you why no other man alive can sing as good as he can!

Something wrong here!1
I ordered this dvd twice and both times recieved region 2 dvds that wouldn't play in my machine here in the USA. This item is advertised region one but I guess they send anything they have on hand. Plus I paid $36.00 each for the two I ordered which I returned immdiately. Why would amazon.com ship region 2 dvds to people in the USA? Who knows but the item is advertised as region one. Has anyone out there had a similar experience with this dvd?
