Excellent, always a pleasure to hear the "real deal," the incomparable Hamilton Bohannon.

FOOT STOMPIN' COLLECTION!4
You gotta admit, there's no one in the cannon of dance music quite like Bohannon. His deeply syncopated grooves would put you in a rapturous state with its monotonous assault. While other disco producers needed break beats and rhythm shifts to keep their grooves fresh, Bohannon rarely shifted gears, as his repetitive grooves were strong enough to work the clubbers like puppets. While his music can become exhausting because of this approach, there's no denying that the tiredness would be well worth the dance.

The Collection is the best showcase of Bohannon's music from this era, now that Summertime Groove is out of print on CD. "Disco Symphony" alone makes this anthology worth purchasing- as it's the only place to my knowledge that contains the full length version of the record (6:39). "Just Doing my Thing" keeps the party going strong and from there you get four songs from Summertime Groove- which is overlap with pretty much the whole album! The overlap could be annoying if you already own the "Summertime Groove" album on CD. Even though this collection is filled with uptempo stompers, there's enough variations in the formula to keeps things interesting- especially on "Git on Up" and "On The Weekend".

The Collection is strongly recommended to those new to Bohannon's music or vets searching for Bohannon on CD. In fact, I recommend this over Summertime Groove since it's more material to choose from. Since his music only appeal to a select few, this Collection may go out of print later on down the road along with the rest of his stuff. So before that happens, grab this collection at the reasonable price its going for now before private sellers start to mark it up to at least $100.
