Customer Reviews
Would have been five stars had all the tracks been full-length versions
As my title suggests this is an excellent compilation with some very refreshing remixes for people who appreciate BOTH the original versions and are open-minded enough to understand how remixes need to be constructed so that they can be beat-matched by DJ's and have the proper "big room" sound that works so well in clubs.
Needless to say a couple of the tunes are "radio edits" -- why on a remix compilation used by DJ's and other clubbers a label wouldn't include only 12" versions is beyond me. Regardless pick this CD up b/c virtually all of the tunes are amazing. In particular the Bowie remix has "live" crowd cheering effects which when played at a nightclub "trick the ear" of the dancefloor into thinking everyone around them is raving mad. Of course this then encourages the crowd to respond similarly creating even more of a powerful effect in the club, which is something all DJ's love to see...
Hopefully, the makers of this excellent remix series will refrain from "radio edits" in future compilations.
Great remixes!
I really like this CD and plan to get some of the other volumes. These are some of the best remixes of 80s music I've heard, I especially like "The Reflex", "Living On Video" and "Blue Monday".
