Welcome back to the '70s...5
This compilation is so "Love Boat" that I'm sure it's no coincidence that the cover art features a cruise ship.

But more to the point, unlike some of Dim's previous releases, this one feels very relaxed, and even though it's not a continuous mix per se, the tracks groove together flawlessly. Whether you play it loud to shake your booty to, or soft during your next swank soiree, this music is meant to be played.

It's a party!5
Dimitri From Paris seems to release albums in three distinct categories: underground disco treasures, house, and retro kitsch. "Cocktail Disco" fits easily in the underground disco treasures category, which is where he usually does his best work. When we think of disco, it brings to mind a lot of over-played classics that are fairly questionable to begin with. However, when Dimitri is at the decks, you can understand why disco was so big in its day - some of the music is just great and not cheesy at all.

"Cocktail Disco" is similar to Dimitri's best work including the original Playboy Mansion mix and the "Disco Forever" compilation. The mix is long spanning two CDs and it may not be something you want to listen to back-to-back since you're only going to get so much variety in disco music. However, each disc is well paced and flows nicely. I'm no disco expert, so I have no idea how many of these tunes will be familiar to other listeners - they're all new to me. Overall, the track selection is impeccable, as we have come to expect from Dimitri.

If you enjoyed the Playboy Mansion discs or "Disco Forever", you'll enjoy this, as it is basically more of the same. Check it out and enjoy.

dj dimitri transports the love boat into the new millenium!!!5
all hats off to the chairman of the world of underground disco!!! i always knew dimitri had some rare stuff to offer all of us music lovers, but i did not know his disco crates ran this deep!! dj dimirti brings us some songs that i ain't never even heard before, even though i can say that hearing these tunes makes me think i've actually heard them before, lol!! scuh standout tracks include "summertime", "little high things", "disco village", "the girl from ipanema", and what is now becoming my favourite track of all on this compilation, "again", the perfect kind of disco duet with deep male bass 'lou rawls/barry white' type vocals and the most magnificent groove i've ever came across!! there's 2 cd's worth of these gems, so this should make good music to listen to at a social get together, so hop aboard this fancy and elegant love boat full of love, passion, music , and dancing, it's a grown folks cruise you wouldn't want to miss!!
