Product Description

Carbide burs have a solid carbide cutting head brazed to a steel shank. They are designed for rapid, controlled removal of wood and leave a fairly smooth finish and are very good for producing well contoured shapes and curves, while smaller cutters can be used to define details. These cutters have razor sharp cutting teeth usually arranged spirally and slice into the wood. They are ideal for the initial shaping of small carvings. They cut cleanly and quickly on soft woods but will only cut efficiently in one direction of rotation. They produce a smooth surface but must be rotated at high speed and they may not work well in some of the slower, inexpensive power tools. Edges will stay sharp a long time, but cannot be re-sharpened by the user. Carbide burs are available in many sizes and shapes.
