Product Description

Falen is a mild, skittish boy, a cripple with an unknown past, raised in the hidden sanctuary of Widdenwael—a sanctuary no one has ever left. His life is one of humble servitude; his only worry that of avoiding the village bully and staying out of the dread white Marcale forest. Then a night of terror and fire teaches Falen his place in the ruthless game of destiny, and reveals the secret behind his strange captivity. Guided by a mysterious force known only as The Rover, he finds himself thrown out into a world he has never seen, and a war he has never known. He must learn to lead—if he can first learn to survive.

About the Author
Adele Lorienne S. is an author and self-taught artist who lives in the forested countryside of Oregon with her beloved parrot, Crackers, and her cat, Scampers. Her love of fantasy stems from an early fascination with medieval history and a deep passion for nature and animals. She has written many young adult novels and stories of the wild, but "The Wars of Avenan" is her first foray into fantasy. It continues to be her fondest hobby.

Worth the buy!5
I first found Adele through deviantart, and fell in love with her artwork. Of course, when I found out she was also a writer, I had to buy her book! I bought The Rover's Cripple for $17.99 from her site, meadowhaven, and once it got here, I was hooked. Surprisingly, although her writing style is captivating, it was a very slow read for me, even though I loved it to pieces.

I know a lot of people are comparing this to Zelda, and it very well may be a lot like it, but for someone who didn't have the patience to play the games, I find the book positively brilliant.

The only complaint I have is that Adele seemed to get a bit lazy with her writing near the end of the book, but she still pulled through. I recently ordered the second book, and can't wait! I'm interested in continuing Falen's tale.

Also: Every one of my friends has stolen the book from me and read it, and they all adore it as well. So yes, Adele has fans in a little town in Georgia! We even have an official copy of The Rover's Cripple in our school library. ;D

Something you need to know......by:Maggie Mcmahon4
Yes it does say Mary Ann Peters. My name is Maggie and Mary Ann Peters is my mother. SO im not hijacking her account.

I first new Adele Lorienne as an artist, and when I heard she had a book out, I was interested. I had already known the characters from her website so i had a pretty good idea what was going on in the story, and even if i hadn't, it still was clear. There was wonderful character development, and the readers definately get a sense of them.
I read it over the holidays, and let me tell you i could not put it down. Yes, it did have cliches, but that is inevitable. LIke the person below me, EVERY BOOK HAS CLICHES. GET OVER IT.

I read a lot of fantasy (as well as other genres) and i put this at the top five of my list.

I'm sorry this next fact really bugs me though. whoever said they were dissapointed because it "wasn't real enough" needs to look at the definition of FANTASY. IT IS NOT REAL. Seriously, what else did they expect? Yes, there are really flying Solo's that speak english. ok. sure. But this is why it's so good. If we read something that is based on real life, its not fun. People experience those situations EVERY DAY. But with fantasy books, ANYTHING can happen.

hands down this is one of my favorite books, and i can not wait to read the next.

A book for certain styles3
I have not completely finished the book, but as far as I have gone, I think that The Rover's Cripple is very good. It may have many cliches, but all books do. Think of your favorite book. Is it completely lacking cliches? Is it completely original?

Also, before you read it, you have to understand that it is a romantic book. You who read it and call it a simpering, dripping-in-lovejuice, romance novel for 10 year olds, seem very blinded. If you arent a fan of romance, then you cannot put it down for just that. This is a romantic adventure, not bloody-gory horror, even if it is sad. The Rover's Cripple is no more simpering and cliché than most teenagers' blogs or their very own words.

The Rover's Cripple starts out at a faster pace that you think. No, I don't believe that a 30 year old would often enjoy it, but it could be scary for a 10 year old. It is a teen age ranged book.

Those who have no faith in reading past chapter four in a book, just because they dont like the style, should try a library before buying a book.

You who are interested in reading the book, but not interested in spending a fair amount of money on it, should probably borrow it from the library, before buying it. You may like it or not, but if you are a fan of fantasy, romance, a touch of sadness, and feel like a cool, well-paced read for teens, I suggest this book.
