Great magazine for robotics hobbyist5
I always look forward to getting my copy of Robot Magazine in the mail! As the subtitle suggests, it provides "the Latest in Hobby, Science and Consumer Robotics". I find the reviews of DIY kits very helpful in making purchasing decisions - perfect for someone looking to get into the hobby. Robot magazine isn't intended to be an in-depth academic journal. Instead, it provides columns like LERN (Leading Edge Robotics News) that provide a wide range of robot-related news summaries for readers to stay up-to-date on the latest happenings in the field. The articles often encourage educational use of robotics, teamwork, and quality time between parents and children. I like the robot competition coverage, too.

Are you a Maker looking to get into the robotics hobby? This magazine may be just what you need.

Are you a teacher looking for ideas to interest your students in robotics and related science fields? This magazine would be a good resource.

Are you a hard-core robot builder or academic? You'll certainly want to supplement this magazine with other more in-depth publications, but I believe you'll still find inspiration from reading about what others are doing.

I'm going to buck the trend of previous reviews and highly recommend Robot Magazine.

Just another rag.1
This mag is typical in that it has no meat to chew on.
If you like reviews, stories, what the latest robotics contest is and who won it, or what the newest robot kit/toy is then by all means this rag is for you.
I read one issue from cover to cover(something I don't normally do)and found nothing of use or importance to me as someone is just getting into robotics and trying to learn what is involved in making them.
What I expected to find were maybe some programing tips, electronic circuits, how to, DIY, and maybe a project or two. Well this rag has none of that.
Also it's $24.95 which I think is a lot for a bi-monthly that hasn't got much to offer.
In short if you are looking to learn about and build your own robots you should avoid this magazine.

The Robot took the money and ran....1
I renewed this magazine because it was somewhat interesting. They cashed my check and never sent another issue. They also did not respond to my email. I recommend Circuit Cellar.
