we got a bunch of these for the changing table in case of accidents, and we have a really big one that we use in our bed for nighttime feedings to protect against spit-ups and diaper leaks. works great. you'll need something waterproof for the crib too.

in the beginning, this thing totally overstimulated our little one, but he loves it now. "tiny love" also makes good ones that come with tummy pillows and fold up a little better.

gowns are good in the 0-3 size--they make all those middle of the night diaper changes easier. the best ones are these convertible ones made by "carters": they button up the front so you don't have to pull them over the baby's delicate little head, and they can be buttoned up as either a gown or a sleeper, whichever you prefer.

these are best in the 3-6 month size. by that point, the baby's legs will actually stay inside the legs of the garment, which is very handy! i also really like the footless kind--they last longer, stay on the legs a little better, and are a little more versatile in warmer weather. you'll just need a few pairs of socks to go with them (good ones are gap or trumpette).
