I frequently pass on a bar of Get Real to people who are getting rid of all the petro-based soaps in their home. This soap is delicious. It's got just the right amount of exfoliant and the smell is gorgeous. The first time I put it in the shower, my husband actually remarked how magnificent it was...and this from a guy who has put about 5 minutes of thought into shower products in his lifetime.

I don't know a thing about fan technology, but the Vornado definitely works better than the mongo floor fans I cooked in front of back in the day. This itty bitty quiet little fan will probably cut back on our air conditioning bills 80% this year. OK - that's an exaggeration - but it does an amazing job for being so unobtrusive.

This is some super groovy shampoo. Love the smell. Love the juicy bubbles and texture. I'm trumpeting the peppermint to go along with the Get Real soap mentioned on this list but the lavender ain't bad either. They also have an equally superb conditioner - check it out!

Bad news - a lot of the mainstream dish soaps are made from petroleum. A good percentage of them also contain triclosan, an EPA registered pesticide. Eww. Good news - there are loads of very effective dish soaps out there now that we can use without producing three-eyed fish downstream. I can also hardily Seventh Generation & Earth Cleaning Products.

This isn't a Pulitzer prize winner or anything, but the concept is great and the author validated every mom out there who denied their children that lunchbox Twinkie. An interesting place to start if you want to learn more about our nation's food supply in general.
