You haven't listened to Eric Hutchinson yet? Oh, you must not be a fan of intelligent pop music. Or is it that you hate hearing new music that is modern yet schooled in the prime of pop music's yesteryears? For the last 5 years Eric Hutchinson has been cultivating his own brand of acoustic green-eyed soul. Now it is time for you to hear it. Notice the painstakingly placed lyrics, brimming with sarcasm and wit. Turn your attention to his carefully crafted, yet effortless melodies. He sings! He plays guitar! AND piano! He may very well be the next Stevie Wonder! ...but probably not. Not only has Eric spent the last few years showcasing his musical gift for audiences all across the country, but hes managed to do it all on his own. Without a band, a label, a booking agent, a tour manager or a publicist, Eric has played over 200 shows in the past two years. Eric has opened shows for Jason Mraz, G. Love & Special Sauce, Martin Sexton, The Gin Blossoms, Tristan Prettyman, and Stephen Kellogg. Relying only on the power of the internet and venue sales, Eric has sold over 5,000 copies of his self-distributed live EP, "Before I Sold Out. Erics latest album, "Sounds Like This is his first full-length album and it captures Eric growing into a complete artist. It is a diverse collection of acoustic soul songs that reflect a wide range of musical influences from Michael Jackson & Stevie Wonder to Ben Folds & Elvis Costello. Songs like Rock & Roll and Food Chain combine instantly accessible melodies with biting wordplay to create that familiar "Eric Hutchinson sound." The album was produced by Will Golden (Joe Purdy) and Paul Kolderie (Radiohead) and was mixed by Neal Pogue (Stevie Wonder, Outkast). 1 Ok, It's Alright With Me 2 You Don't Have to Believe Me 3 Outside Villanova 4 Food Chain 5 Rock & Roll 6 Oh! 7 All Over Now 8 It Hasn't Been Long Enough 9 Back to Where I Was 10 You've Got You

This dude is sick!!
I just bought this cd from Best Buy and every song is money! My favorites so far are "Food Chain" and "Oh!" If you like piano pop you will love this guy. Thank God he didn't quit music and I hope he makes much more in the future!
Spread the word!
It was like a breath of fresh air. I saw Mr. Hutchinson at the Meridian in Houston, Texas. He wasn't the headliner, but he should have been (no disrespect to the headliners, but he stole their show). I see many live shows and I enjoy most of the performances, but I'm rarely WOWed in this fashion. His music is fun and toe-tapping. His lyrics are impressive and honest, and if you call it POP you've done him a real disservice. This album deserves more attention than it is getting, but I hope he keeps up the good work. Check it out, it is worth you time.
Great travel music, or just for fun
Whether you're about to embark on a long trip, need something to keep you going at work, or for a workout, or whatever, this upbeat and intelligent piece of modern music is just the ticket you're looking for. If you haven't heard of Eric Hutchinson before, you'll be Googling him for sure after you hear this to try and find more of his stuff. The album is chalked-full of great songs, regardless of your music preference. From "OK, It's Alright With Me," which opens the album, to "Rock & Roll" and on through the end of the release, it's great music! Don't worry about name recognition. This is great music that's worth every penny.
