In addition, the lens focuses as close as 18 inches, helping you take extreme close-ups. Finally, the lens offers an excellent color balance. As with all Canon lenses, the lens carries a one-year warranty.

From the Manufacturer
Lightweight and affordable, this sharp lens with a fast f/1.8 aperture is an excellent first lens for those who prefer a fixed focal length, and makes an excellent addition to any photographer's system for available-light shooting. A traditional Gauss-type optical design ensures sharp performance even wide open, and it focuses as close as 18 inches/0.45m.
A medium telephoto lens with a large aperture brings the subject closer, creates excellent background blur, gives a longer flash range, and affords a faster shutter speed to freeze the action. A standard zoom lens, with its natural angle of view and perspective, captures the subject plainly, with no special effects. However, you can use standard lenses in creative ways by varying the subject distance, aperture, and angle.

a true value
I like values. I don't like things that are cheap. I like things that are good values. I truly believe that this lens is a great value. Good image qualities in the photos I have taken. Great price. It is a must own if you cannot afford the f1.4.
Very Sharp
Very very sharp lens for such a low amount of money, cheaply build but worth every penny :-)
Become a better photographer
You can't get better pictures for the money. This lens is on my camera at all times, (Rebel XTI) with the exception of when I want to take some landscape shots, in which case I switch out to the kit 18-55mm lens.
The pictures are just phenomonal. The one gripe I have is in dark situations it can take a while to focus. But the low F-stop is just fantastic. I have taken my best pictures with this lens.
are there better ones? Sure. But you will never beat this for the price. JUST BUY IT ALREADY!
