Great camera that lives up to the hype. Easy to use once you spend some time with it. The Autofocus is speedy and crisp. Now that I've gained some experience I am using the Scene modes and this has helped - sports shots, portraits, night shots, etc.

I just got this and it is terrific. Definitely worth the hype. I do not use my kit lens anymore (18-135mm). In fact, if I had to do it all over again, I would have purchased the D80 body only and then this lens.
Nikon SB-800 AF Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR CamerasNikon SB-800 AF Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Very good flash that helps shooting indoors. Also strong enough to act as a good fill-flash outdoors. You'll quickly find the built-in flash doesn't do the job in all settings.

Extremely useful if you are a beginner. I waited for several months before this book came out and got it as soon as it was available. It has lots of useful tips.

Solid photography primer no matter what kind of gear you use. Lots of pictures and clearly labeled.

A good starter bag. I really like the "reverse entry" feature - it makes getting your camera out much easier. If you begin to accumulate several lenses you'll probably want to upgrade to a larger bag eventually. This one handles my D80, the SB-800 flash and, sometimes, my camcorder just fine (but it is a tight fit).

I keep it on my lens all the time to protect against scratches. I honestly can't tell if it has helped the picture quality, but it has not hurt.

I use a circular polarizer while shooting outside on sunny days. It makes the colors more vibrant.

I have two of these - one in the camera and one in the bag. I shoot on Fine quality and Large file size. At those settings I get 160-170 pix per card.
