![]() | Sunpak PZ40X Power Zoom Digital Flash for all Canon EOS TTL, E-TTL and E-TTL II Cameras (Black)
Buy new: $160.99 An external flash is the first big accessory you should buy for your G9. Non-flash photography gives the best results, IMO, but when you need a flash, external is the only way to go. Your flash photography will look so much better, and you'll spend less time in the digital dark room correcting red eye. This is a great and affordable alternative to Canon's 430EX.

![]() | Canon LA-DC58H Conversion Lens Adapter for Canon G7 & G9 Digital Cameras
Buy new: $20.49 DO NOT BUY THIS! You'll want a good adapter if you plan to use filters or converters, and lensmateonline.com makes the best adapter for the G9, for about the same price as Canon's.

![]() | Raynox HD 6600PRO 58 - Converter
Buy used from: $288.12 The wide end of the G9's lens is probably sufficient for most situations. But if you find yourself shooting in cramped conditions, this wide angle converter is a good choice. You can see the converter in the corners of the image at full wide zoom (called vignetting), but zooming in one level (to remove it) still gives a wider angle than most other converters.

![]() | Sunpak 9002DX Tripod with 3-Way Quick-Release Pan Head
Buy new: $28.99 I don't honestly have any personal experience with this tripod, but the one I use is no longer available and this one matches its specs pretty well. The main features to look for are:
* quick release
* center column height adjustment
* bubble level
The hook at the bottom is for adding weight for stability. It may sound weird, but it really helps.

![]() | SanDisk 4 GB Extreme III SDHC Card with MicroMate USB 2.0 Reader (SDSDRX3-4096-A21, Retail Package)
Buy new: $29.19 / Used from: $25.99 I can't tell you whether or not you really need a fast SDHC card. All I can say is, I have this one and I haven't had any problems with continuous shots or video recording. Also note that many SD card readers do not support SDHC, so it's nice to get a reader with your high capacity card.
