![]() | Pentax K100D 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Shake Reduction and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens
Buy new: Too low to display / Used from: $375.00 My DSLR. I chose it over the XT because of the larger LCD, Shake Reduction and it's solid feel. I love this camera. The kit lens is a great lens as far as Kit lenses go. I have since sold mine and upgraded.

![]() | SanDisk 2 GB SDSDX3-2048-901 Extreme III SD Memory Card (Retail Package)
Buy new: $23.99 / Used from: $33.40 My Card. The fastest and biggest I could find, without making the price jump to SDHC. It gets almost 700 6 MP high quality JPEGs and it get around 200 6MP RAW Files.

![]() | Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 EX DC Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras
Buy new: $279.95 This is my upgrade lens. I chose it over the 16-45 pentax version because it was far less and had an aperture of 2.8, not 4.0. Pentax now has a 16-50 with a 2.8 aperture, but it costs 3 times what is one does. This lens cannot be beat for the features and price. Great Lens!

![]() | Tiffen 67mm UV Protection Filter
Buy new: Too low to display I think I got mine for 15 bucks. This covers my upgrade lens, which has a huge filter size of like 67mm, compared to my previous lens' 52...big change, but well worth it.

![]() | Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Lens
Buy new: $199.95 / Used from: $190.00 Great lens, the wide aperture setting enables low light indoor photos without flash and is great for museum shots or other places where flash is not permitted. This lens is one of the top 50 primes on the market today and costs a fraction of what Canon and Nikon's f/1.4s do.

![]() | 49 UV FILTER -
Buy new: $11.50 covers the 50mm lens

![]() | Sigma EF 500 DG Super Flash for Pentax SLR Cameras
I bought this because the lower model was out of stock and I'm glad I did. This flash is awesome! The new model is below. Same thing, but updated.

![]() | Sigma EF-530 DG Super Electronic Flash for Pentax and Samsung DSLR
Buy new: $252.97 Here is the upgraded model...you could probably find the 500DG Super on ebay or likewise for far less...

![]() | Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce OM-C Flash Diffuser + Cameta NMH-1 Power Package - for Olympus FL-50, FL-50R, Sigma EF-500 & EF-530 (DG, Super, ST) Flashes
Buy new: $26.37 Well, I own the omni bounce because it's a great diffuser, which you want. See if you can't get this not in a package, because these included batteries are inferior to the eneloops.
|
![]() | Sanyo Eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargable Batteries w/ Charger
Buy new: $18.11 The eneloops don't loose their charge so they are always waiting patiently in my bag for their call to duty. I have 3 sets of four. Two for my camera, one for the flash.

![]() | Canon 2400 SLR Gadget Bag for EOS SLR Cameras
Buy new: $33.58 / Used from: $27.00 This was the bag that I bought to go with my rebel G, but it works so great holding all my stuff, I don't even notice the Canon lettering on the front!

![]() | Adobe Photoshop CS3 [OLD VERSION]
Buy new: $601.49 / Used from: $794.95 This is the ultimate tool for mastering your images! The cheap way to do this is to buy a lower version of photoshop and buy the upgrade.
|
![]() | Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 [OLD VERSION]
This version will qualify you for the upgrade, and is also a good way to get started with Photoshop
|
![]() | The Adobe Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter) by Scott Kelby
Buy new: $31.49 / Used from: $24.99 Despite what others think, this book is the best CS3 book out there. Kelby's humor and great knowledge of photography make a very repetitive and somewhat monotonous book easy to read. VERY Informative. You need this to get the most out of your images!
|
![]() | Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera (Updated Edition) by Bryan Peterson
Buy new: $16.47 / Used from: $12.45 GREAT book detailing the information you need to begin getting the most out of your DSLR! An awesome book, and a must buy!
|
![]() | Master Lighting Guide for Portrait Photographers by Christopher Grey
Buy new: $19.77 / Used from: $18.63 Here is another book that is quite useful if you are looking into portraits, whether amateur or semi pro. I haven't made my way fully into this one yet, but the little bit I have read has been quite informative. Not a must buy, but a good one.
|
![]() | Magic Lantern Guides: Pentax K100D / K110D (Magic Lantern Guides) by Joe Farace
Buy new: $13.57 / Used from: $2.98 This is a good reference. The manual is boring and terrible. This is much easier to understand.
|
![]() | Digital Wedding Photography: Capturing Beautiful Memories by Glen Johnson
Buy new: $19.79 / Used from: $16.39 I'm planning on shooting some weddings, so I purchased a couple different books. This one, and the Bambi Cantrell book below. Mr. Johnson does a fabulous job detailing the specifics. The best book out there!
|
![]() | The Art of Wedding Photography: Professional Techniques with Style by Bambi Cantrell
Buy new: $19.77 / Used from: $8.00 This is the Cantrell book. My complaint with this one is the assumed advanced nature of all of her little "chats" It has good information if you can sift through her absurd recommendations for equipment. She recommends all Hasselblad and Canon Eos 1 with L series glass. Quantum Q Flash...it totals over 50,000 dollars. I prefer the Johnson book
