good intro to Medieval and Renaissance music
I teach Music History and have found this cd to be a very useful tool in introducing young people to Medieval and Renaissance music. The story is engaging and the music is wonderful. All my students who had said they hated this style of music had a change of heart after listening to this cd. Recommended for the private and public school teacher.
Truly beautiful music!
My family owns this on tape and I LOVE it. It is my very favorite of the Classical Kids series (though I own I've never listened to either of the Motzart stories) The music is a sort of Celtic, pre-classical European that I simply Love. The story is sweet and interesting. Owen and Maggie are endearing children who do what is right even if it costs them dearly. When our tape wears out we will deffintely get the CD.
Imagination required
I'd recommend this for kids from age 8-12. They should be familiar with (and enjoy) listening to a story being told or read to them. It doesn't grab attention like video, but the voice talent and music will draw in listeners. Expect to listen two or three times and then put away for occasional use.
