Customer Reviews
OK for Cheap Knives
I can't really complain because they were so cheap. However, they are lacking in any real quality. The handles are hollow, and one of mine even jingles because of a loose piece of metal inside. I too suspect they were made in another county, they rust easily, not real quality metal.
Good Value
The knives have a nice design and balance, and were sharp out of the box. Though I'm not a professional cook (just a single dad), I think they're excellent value. They are a high carbon stainless steel so they should be hand washed and dried. I did put mine into the dishwasher several times to see what would happen, but after about four washings they did did develop rust "stains" that came off with some soft scrub cleaner. That's the trade off--you get a sharper, longer-lasting edge with high carbon stainless steel, but it will develop rust stains in a dishwasher. Also, be aware that these Forum steak knives do not match the steak knives that come with the Chicago Cutlery 10-piece Forum Cutlery set. Though the handles are the same, the steak knives included in the cutlery set have a serrated edge and are about a 1/2 inch longer.
Chicago Cutlery Forum 4-Piece Steak Knife Set
The knives have an attractive,eye-pleasing design, but I plan to get a refund because they develop rust spots. Whatever happened to stainless steel, and why does'nt a company like Chicago Cutlery stick to it ? I suspect these knives are manufactured in a foreign country with low quality standards.
