Polder... Oops, Pinzon Electronic Clock Timer Is Great!5
I bought the Polder Electronic Clock, Timer, Stopwatch combination several years ago and paid around $16. (It has currently been lowered to $14 - $16, depending on the color) I loved the product and would have liked to have gotten more, but the price was more than I cared to spend. When searching through Amazon's kitchen gadgets, I noticed the Pinzon Electronic Clock Timer appeared remarkably similar. Needing an additional $7 to qualify for free shipping, the extra $2 to have another timer seemed reasonable.

When this timer arrived, I laid it next to my Polder and the two are absolutely identical, with the exception of the blank space which located on the center, bottom of the unit and is just to the left of the display screen. The Pinzon timer's is blank, the Polder timer has their name imprinted there.

The multiple functions on this timer are extremely useful. I particularly like the fact that the timer continues to "buzz" for a long period of time after it goes off. (It does stop buzzing after what seems like several minutes.) I sometimes neglect to carry the timer with me and don't hear it immediately which can have disasterous results if a timer shuts off after a minute. Further, once the timer goes off, the unit begins to count up so that the user actually knows by what length of time they missed the mark. This is useful when baking since it allows the user to know how "off" their product may be due to overcooking. Additionally, the timer allows one to set it for lengthy periods, unlike some older timers which limit one to 99 minutes. The portability feature is useful - I like the magnet on the back which allows me to stick this up on the metal door in the garage when I am working outside.

My husband finds the stopwatch/count up function useful when he is doing his physical therapy. He can sit the unit on the bench and watch it count up the 10 seconds he is to hold his stretches - saves continually setting the timer or having to count and then getting distracted and losing count.

The clock setting instructions are unclear, but I found a comment on Amazon's site with the trick to setting the time. Hold down the clock button until the time clears. Then enter the numbers as follows: enter two digits for each unit of time, using leading zeros when the number is a single digit. For example, if it is 8:15:09 am, one should enter "08", "15", "09". That's all there is to it.

One caveat - it may be me, but I find that the readout is more difficult to read on the black cased unit as opposed to my Polder which has a white case. There is no difference in clarity of the displays, so it is probably the contrast which makes the Polder's display a bit easier to use. This may be something to consider if the user has vision problems.

I definitely recommend this unit over the Polder as it is nearly identical (Polder has changed the stop/clear button colors on the newer units.) at a significantly lower price. In fact, I would take advantage of Amazon's 4 for 3 deal and purchase multiple units. One can never have too many timers!

Very useful little gadget at a great price5
I really like this little timer and its handy features. It does have a few things that aren't perfect; I would have given it 4.5 stars if that had been an option. But at this price, I feel like any small annoyances are outweighed by the super low price. Besides that, at least when I purchased it, it falls into the 4-for-3 promotion that Amazon has. You really can't beat the deal. (side note: I keep a "Wish List" at Amazon that I title my "4 for 3 wishlist" and then add stuff to it so when I am ready, I can always find compatible items to make up my 4 for 3 order)

I purchased this because I wanted a timer I could toss around my neck while working around the house and this one comes on a nylon cord. It has a clock (works fine for me, I did see another reviewer had trouble with it) and timer that can count up or down. You can also stop (or actually, pause) the timer while it is in operation, and that comes in handy sometimes, too. I'm going to post a photo of it, so you can see how big it is in my hands, just for perspective.

Now...what I would improve?

1. This is a small thing and perhaps other people would not be bothered, but I wish the numbers were either *on* the buttons or above or below. They are beside them, to the left, and it always takes me an extra second or two to remember which button goes with which number. They are close enough that the 2 is as close to the 1 button as to its own. I know, being really picky, but I figure some people might want to know.

2. When I do wear this around my neck, occasionally, as it gets bumped around, buttons get pressed and it gets paused inadvertently or something like that. Not sure what could be done about that...maybe some kind of "lock" button?

These are pretty trivial annoyances, though, and fixing them might well drive the price up, so I'm willing to live with them. This is a great timer, convenient and with a nice loud sound so if I do leave it in another room, I'll still hear it. Also counts after the timer goes off so you know how long since the alarm began sounding. A very good buy!

All Three at the Same Time5
I love this little gadget more and more.

I was timing something in the oven today....leaned up against my sink and heard a beep. Oh...No....looked down and had the clock. Immediately went into a mental spin trying to think how long my dish had been cooking. Selected "timer" again to guesstimate and reset, AND it was still ticking right along. Guess I didn't bump the "Start/Stop" button.

Later, I starting playing with it and found that it will do the timer function AND the "count-up" function (wish they would call it "Stopwatch") at the same time and that you can cycle through the clock, count-up and timer functions with the different keys on the bottom.

AND, and, and......say you've set the timer...you can then go back to the clock mode and it flashes "timer" up in the display. You can set the timer AND the count-up....go back to clock mode and both of them will flash in the display to let you know that they are in the background ticking right along.

Also, if you're in clock mode and you bump the "Start/Stop" button, it doesn't affect your timer or stopwatch.

Very cool.
