Book III in Jim & Susan Harran's series is all-new, with no repeats from their first two books. Over 1,000 color photographs are included this time, and the book concentrates on cups and saucers that are readily available to collectors. An expanded section on cabinet cups and saucers is provided, and some of the categories from books I and II are again covered: late nineteenth and twentieth century European and American dinnerware, English bone china and earthenware cups and saucers, miniatures, and mustache cups. There are also two brand new categories in the book, Japanese cups and saucers and art glass cups and saucers made by the leading glass factories in Europe and the United States. A marks section, helpful appendix, and bibliography are once again included, as well as useful tips for dealers and collectors. Great teacup guide
This is a great collection of the different types of teacups. Very helpful to an avid china collector! There are not very many books in this area of antiques, so I was thrilled to find this first edition. The second edition is also wonderful too. Highly recommend for the novice collector, to the avid ones!
Even better than Book 1!
I found Book 1 to be very helpful to me as a beginning serious collector and Book 2 has been much more so as my collection has grown. I loved the marks section with color photographs of marks and have used it in dating some of my cup and saucer sets. I also found the sketches of shapes and handles of cups to be useful in descriptions for the inventory of my collection. Pictures of old trade cards are a charming touch and reproduced old catalog pages, extra photographs and added information greatly add to the enjoyment of this book for a novice or experienced collector.
This book is not helpful at all
This book is not helpful in identifying teacups at all. Of the thousands and thousands of styles and designs of teacps that exist, this book shows pictures of only about 200. Most of the pictures are dark or unclear and no maker's marks are shown. This book is basically just one person's collection and is no help to other collectors.
