There's undeniable energy (and a lot of exclamation points) in Vanzant's personal entreaties; she's fond of ringing but generic affirmations of God (who is "awesome," "magnificent," "amazing" and "a skilled negotiator") and self ("I praise my body! I love my body!"). "Every thought, every word, every action is a prayer," Vanzant says, but she still offers specifics: there are prayers for "Alignment with God" and for blessing married couples; to "Eliminate Tiredness or Exhaustion" and to give thanks. Her fervent desire for the Divine presence in every facet of life will be inspiring for many, but others might find her detailed invocations ("Teach me to monitor my thoughts and desires to ensure that they are filled with love, harmony and peace for myself and everyone in my life in all situations and under all circumstances"; "Please purge my agenda today. Take out of my life everything...that could possibly take my focus from you") a trifle demanding. Replete with "I" statements, many of her prayers seem self-absorbed; the longer, more reflective ones, such as "Prayer When Ending a Relationship" and "God's Promise" strike deeper chords. EXCEPTIONAL IN ALL ASPECTS!
Prayer is so personal and so customized to the individual that it is never wrong. Ilyanla simply presents her prayers to the reader to inspire, ignite and facilitate this need that has existed since the beginning of the world. This book can be studied alone but it is fun and more powerful in group study. Find committed friends and read it as a book club book as my group Living Prayer group is doing. It will change your prayer life. It will change the power within you!

I Loved This Book! Thank You, Iyanla!
I received this book as a Pollyanna gift from a co-worker last year and this is one of the best books I've read. I was unable to put this book down for the past two weeks because of the beauty of its words. The inspirational prayers cover a variety of topics that I can apply to certain situations I've gone through in my life. I've gained a better understanding to how to deal with those issues with the letters writen by Iyanla. Thank you so much, Iyanla, for another wonderful book!

An incredible prayer book
This book is an incredible book of prayers. When I've needed encouragement, I've turned to one of the prayers and have been lifted. I have no problem with with the male/female references. God is a spirit...they that worship...

My young daughter reads them and is helped by them too.

Sometimes what I can't put into words what's deep in my spirit, Iyanla's prayers become my own and I'm empowered.
