This is a highly fictionalized version of my aunt's death from cancer. She organised her funeral and prepared her kids for her death. Also, my great grand-dad married two sisters.

Or you can be full of the love that you shared,

Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of YESTERDAY.

You can remember her and only that she is gone,
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on,

The Death of My Mother By A J Dunlea

My mum, my best friend had just died of cancer,

It began as breast cancer but within twelve months it had spread right through her,

A positive lady she saw it as a second chance,

And lived each day as her last great romance.

She wined and dined us and my dad,

She lavished us with love and affection like mad,

She got to finalize her affairs and do and say everything she wanted so she wasn't sad,

Infact she had made her peace with God and for the pain to end she would be glad,

This remarkable lady called Katie,

Booked herself into a hospice at the end of her life,

To save her family any trouble or strife,

Typical mum that cared for others more than herself even at the end of her life.

Never did she complain she fought it with all her might,

But it is a cruel fatal disease and it has no cure and none in sight,

She organized her funeral and left us a letter,

Sealed with a kiss and her own DVD of survival forever.

From the grave I hear her saying please go on,

Let the pain and suffering with my death be gone,

But choose in your hearts to carry on my love,

I will watch and help you as a guardian angel from Above.
