Editorial Reviews

From Booklist
Gr. 4-7. Excellent color photos of finished projects enhance the appeal of this large-format guide to making fancy soaps and other products such as bath salts, bubble bath, lip gloss, and scented powders. Browning is the author of several adult books on soap making, and even here the instructions are sometimes directed to adults. A blue clipboard icon, explained only in the introduction, signals that adult assistance is recommended, a warning that seems insufficient, given that most children skip the introductions. However, that would be a mistake for young crafters using this book, since the opening pages offer basic instructions and advice on melting the soap base, pouring it into molds, and removing the hardened soap. The many projects using this technique skip those steps in their instructions and focus on the decoration and packaging that give the soaps their distinctive looks. An attractive guide, particularly for teachers, scout leaders, and parents working with children. Carolyn Phelan

Totally Cool Soapmaking for Kids 5
This is wonderful book! The projects are easy and simple enough for a child to do, but fun and nice enough for any adult to do with pride. The pictures and colorful and bright and she explains each project fully with helpful do's and don'ts to keep you on track. There is a good variety of projects for people who want to make other body treats (not just soap). Her packaging ideas are lovely and fun. I rate this book highly because it is cool and fun just like the title says.
