Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com Review
Putting a new spin on time-tested quilt methods, this book shows that today's tools and techniques--namely the rotary cutter and cutting mat, which greatly facilitate the strip-piecing approach--can ease the labor intensity of many traditional patterns, yet yield equally beautiful results. Trip Around the World, Sunshine and Shadow, Nine Patch, and more are dissected into logical, streamlined strip sets that still require precision but demand far less time and painstaking care than the old methods. --Amy Handy

Creative quilting
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the patterns in this book. I love the Bloomin' Ninepatch. It is my favorite pattern in the book. The possibilities for today's quilter to experiment with fabric on this quilt are incredible. The directions are clear and precise.
My only problem with this book, and the reason I gave it three stars, is due to the fact that the writers/quilters cut the fabric requirements soooo close that a simple miswhack could result in not having enough fabric to finish your quilt. I have been qulting for 20 years and I had to piece a 4 1/2 inch square, I ran so close. The frugal quilter should have not problems, but the novice or creative quilter should buy a little more of each fabric that is called for just to be sure to have enough,, especially if you are using fabric that does not measure full 45 inch width.
The quilts are beautiful and definitely worth making. They inspired me to think beyond colors I normally use. The book is definitely one I will keep and use again and again.
Make exquisite looking quilts with strips!
This is an excellent book for a new or experienced quilter who wants to make a fantastic, complicated looking quilt using the secret of strips. My Blooming 9 Patch is my most exquisite project to date! This book would make a lovely gift for anyone who loves making quilts
I recommend this book to every quilter I know
I've had this book for several years and have made 3 quilts from it (two different Trips Around the World and a Boston Common). The directions are so complete and easy to follow. Everyone who sees these quilts can't believe I made them without taking a class. I am planning to do a Blooming 9 Patch next.
Blooming 9 patch color selection has always scared me. But reading about it in Traditions with a Twist gives me the confidence to do it.
My favorite quilting book... and I have a LOT of them.
