BLOOMING ORIGAMI offers easy-to-follow and perfectly logical instructions that enable readers to create twenty-nine different 3-dimensional flowers by folding square origami paper into pentagons, hexagons and octagons. The flowers are presented by season, so, for example, in the spring, readers will learn to make the cherry blossom, dogwood, pansy, violet, sweet, pea, lily-of-the-valley, climbing rose and hydrangea, among others; in summer, the morning glory, clematis, bougainvillea, lily, sunflower and dahlia; in fall, the gentian and chrysanthemum; while the narcissus, camellia, Adonis, tree peony, Kaffir lily and orchid can be found in the winter collection. The flowers themselves require no scissors or adhesive to make. Then with some floral tape and wire, they can be combined into beautiful arrangements, bouquets and even interior decorations. The designs in BLOOMING ORIGAMI, which are shown in vivid, full-color photographs, are more stylized in the way of traditional Japanese origami flowers.
Renowned artist Fumio Inoue’s motto is "origami from hand to hand," which describes his mission to pass on to others, by demonstrating with his own hands, his art and ideas. Ever since his childhood in Tokyo, he has been passionate about origami paper folding. In 1970, he began creating innovative designs of his own to complement the traditional styles he loved so well. Now, in BLOOMING ORIGAMI, he shares his love for the craft by guiding even less experienced origamists in fashioning these glorious flowers for all seasons.

The Good Side of 3/5
I'm not quite sure what I Think about Blooming Origami but what I Feel is that the book is Ok. It's well done and the diagrams are clear. The models are interesting - complex but achievable. I've enjoyed most of it so far.
The part that I don't like about the models are that a lot of them require scissors. I made a New Year's Resolution in 2009 to memorize a flower model so that I could fold one anywhere, anytime. And therein lies my problem with the book: I can't meet my resolution without scissors. I don't see a solution because complex models require complex bases that require scissors to form. I've got myself a Catch-22. I can't fault the models, but I can't quite celebrate them. I expect other books are the same.
However, if you know-about and accept the scissors from Day 1, I think you'll love the book for some of the gems it contains.
WARNING
I've made one flower arrangement for a girl's birthday at work; and since then all the girls at the office want one too. So I've made about 16 different flower arrangement, and I have about 16 more. Please, if you want to purchase this book, you have to first learn how to say... No.
It is a wonderful book, along with "Origami Flowers" by Hiromi Hayashi. Yet please note, in both books you cut, glue, and paste. They are not books on how to make an origami flower from a single square of paper by folding only. Also they are not a book I would recommend for a beginner origami folder (and no, you don't have to be an expert either).
