The enchanting story of Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses (now available on DVD) tells the story of Barbie as the beautiful Princess Genevieve and her eleven dancing princess sisters. Under the care of an overly strict duchess who forbids dancing, singing and anything that makes them happy, the girls' future looks bleak until the princesses discover that twelve special books bequeathed to them by their late mother open the gateway to a magical world where wishes are granted and dancing is celebrated. Genevieve and her sisters find a way to bring dancing and joy back into their lives as they work together in order to save their father and his kingdom. Dressed in a beautiful pink gown with a gold tiara and a matching necklace, the interactive Princess Genevieve "Let's Dance" doll is sure to spark hours of imaginary playtime among girls, whether they’ve seen the movie or not. Princess Genevieve comes with an electronic doll stand and base that allows you to play with her in three different ways. In "Performance" mode, Genevieve performs multiple dance routines to her own recorded music. In "Teach Me" mode, Genevieve actually shows and tells you how to perform each dance movement ("Arms overhead", "Now, spin"), one at a time, all while giving you positive encouragement ("Very good!", "Take a bow"). Then she asks you to imitate the movements. And finally, in "Play With Me" mode, Genevieve will move her arms and left leg in direct response to your movements when you wear the included wrist and foot controllers. Operating at a frequency of 49 MHz, the Princess Genevieve "Let's Dance" doll requires 4 AA and 6 AAA alkaline batteries (not included).

A Winner!
We bought this for our barbie-obsessed daughter and she is not disappointed. She loves "dancing with Barbie". The toy is excellent, does so much, teaches dance moves and knows that our daughter is dancing along and encourages her. It's really amazing. Not like the Barbies I had when I was a child. My husband and I (and our daughter!) are blown away. Well worth the price (even though it's a lot).
Not worth the money!!
My daughter LOVES Barbie 12 Dancing Princesses and had a 12 Dancing Princess party for her 4th birthday - she wanted this doll!! We shelled out the money at a local toy store (b/c you got the Dress up set for free) and my thoughts are:
1. She takes 10 batteries - be prepared!
2. She is LOUD - no volume control!
3. She isn't really in sync with your child in the "dance with me" mode - she does her own thing - that feature doesn't work well!
4. Even with brand new batteries - the sound is slightly distorted (I think b/c it is soooo dang loud!)
5. She must be connected to the base to dance (obviously) and she isn't much fun to play with by herself.
Overall, I think the idea is lovely - she is a very pretty doll, and my 4 year old loves her - but she gets frustrated trying to make her dance - and she finds the wrist bands and ankle band uncomfortable. I wish we hadn't spent nearly $[...] on this doll! (yes you can find her for much less than that).
I wish I had known more about her before I had purchased her!!
