Absolutely gorgeous
I cannot describe how simply beautiful this Tarot deck is. The pictures we get samples of really do not do it justice. Although some of the imagery is dark, possibly disturbing to others, the beauty and symbolism makes this deck stand out among my other decks. I have yet to work with it in readings even though the deck feels good to me, I have to admit I am not sure I want to share this deck with other people's readings. This will probably end up being my own personal deck. Friends have seen it and browsed through the cards and have been so impressed, they want their own decks. What I found most interesting to those who have looked through the cards, they have all done it slowly and almost with a certain child-like reverence, like they are seeing something awe-inspiring for the first time. I look forward to working with this deck, but I will be working with it slowly to fully enjoy the beauty and imagery.
Pretty and unusable
I got intrigued by this deck of cards when I saw a few cards like the Four of Wands. It has a dark atmosphere and shows the four wands in a creative way, like a fence. The Ten of Swords is also excellent so my first impression was that the rest of the deck will fit into the "dark and innovative" category, but I was wrong.
As I got the deck and browsed through it, I noticed there are too many pictures of naked women for my taste. Though I don't mind the nudity in principle, the artist uses it liberally, where it fits and where it doesn't.
For example, Five of Disks is "Worry" in Crowley's deck. Rider-Waite's Five of Pentacles signifies material trouble. On that card, Archeon Tarot - which is based on Rider-Waite - shows a sexy young female angel. While the more cynical among us would see the connection between pretty young women and financial trouble, it doesn't work for me as a tarot reader.
Four stars for artistic quality, one star for usability.
Beautiful artwork
These cards are beautiful and illuminating. I got them as a gift and I love them. The artwork is amazing and the symbolism even better. I would recommend these to anyone who is interested in tarot and symbols and who likes things that are dark and mysterious. I am so glad I got these!
