THE TEN COMMANDMENTS4
MALEVOLENT CREATION's first album THE TEN COMMANDMENTS took the metal world by storm in 1991. it is without a doubt one of the top 10 classic metal albums of all time. all of MALEVOLENTs albums are classics, but what seperates this one from the rest is the way the band presents themselves as an original outfit. the vocals are very unique...an extreme deathy growl with a hint of melody and even a little bit of rhythm...i dont want to say rap, but you'll know what i mean when you hear "multiple stab wounds". brett hoffman's lyrics were obviously precisly planned and well crafted. not to disrespect his latest efforts, because they are sick as hell, but brett has since dismissed his unique style and has not equalled it since for reasons that i cant provide details for. the musicianship of course is amazing and the songs are catchy and memorable...standout tracks are "premature burial" "thou shall kill!", "decadence within" "remnants of withered decay", and the above mentioned "multiple stab wounds". the drums stand out for being tight and well executed. what keeps it from being five-stars? this album is quiet and very hissy...and is in dire need of being re-mastered...

Where Has This Classic Been???5
This is my all-time favorite Malevolent release. I can't understand why it's taken so long for a record company to re-release this masterpiece. It's without question one of the strongest, and most brutal Death Metal efforts ever released in the early 90's....

This is also without question one of the best Death Metal bands to come out of Florida as well, along with the likes of Obituary and Death, Malevolent were certainly one of the best. These guys are from Ft. Lauderdale, and that's my hometown, so I consider myself very familiar with the best that Death Metal has to offer. "The Ten Commandments" is certainly worthy of top status.....

Don't let this classic masterpiece slip through your fingers. I'm not sure how long this will be available considering it's been out of print for years since now, so buy it any time you get a chance. You wont regret it one bit...

BUY IT WITH CONFIDENCE!!!

The Ten Commandments Rules!!!

My second-favorite MC album...4
First off, to set the record straight, the reviewer below incorrectly stated the drummer is Dave Culross on this one, it's actually Mark Simpson.

With that said, I know everyone wonders "Why not 4 stars?" The drumming on this album is horrific, but it honestly fits the songs perfectly. I really do enjoy this album. The only gripe is, Simpson doesn't use "blast beats", he more or less hits both the drum pedals with the snare, so it just doesn't sound right; however, again, it fits the music perfectly.

The production on this album is solid considering the date it was created. I love this album, and I still remember the first time I heard "Sacrificial Annihilation". I couldn't tell it was Brett Hoffman. I had heard "Envenomed" first.

I think this is one of the few albums where the intro track actually fills it up and leads it nicely.

Get this classic, it's worth it.
