Customer Reviews
Label it what you want, Its "Tight" Progressive Metal
I love when I stumble onto bands such as "Dillinger Escape Plan". I have heard of them, but I never thought that they were such an intelligent and talented group of musicians. They have been labeled so many different types of music, Mathcore,ArtCore, NuMetal, Hardcore, EmoCore, ScremoCore, whatever! Its smart, intelligent Progressive Metal that has a touch of "Between the Buried and Me" to them, along with some influences of a band that most of you might not heard of, but they were a death Metal band from the late 80's, early 90's called "Atheist" which used alot of jazz breaks in their music. Not only that, there are influences from so many generes of music here, even some industrial such as NIN and Ministry. "Miss Machine" might take a few spins to enjoy, as some of it is a bit lets say "Out There" There are one or two songs I dont care for, so that explains the four star rating, but its still a great buy. Fans of extreme music, get your copy soon!
great, technical
some of dillingers best work lies within this album. at first i was turned off. i was expecting something along the lines of calculating infinity, but after a couple weeks, this became one of my favorites. anyone who is curious about other styles of music and are open minded give this a listen. even if you dont like metal or hardcore, ignore the screaming and listen to the music. these guys are incredible musicians.
DEP's Second Full Length
Miss Machine is "The Dillinger Escape Plan's" latest major CD. Featuring a CD and DVD, this is a great value. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Dillinger Escape Plan (or DEP for short), they are a mathcore band with hectic and fast paced music and screaming vocals. One interested fact is most of their music is actually Jazz influence but sped up. The CD/DVD comes in a cardboard digi-pack with 2 discs and a booklet. The CD features 11 songs. The DVD features music videos and live performances. Some of my favorite songs on the CD are "Panasonic Youth," "The Perfect Design," "Sunshine the Werewolf," and "Unretrofied." The DVD is a great bonus and it's a really cool extra. Although I haven't watched it many times it's pretty cool to watch some live performances and music videos of the band. Overall I'd highly recommend "Miss Machine" if you've heard the band before or if you are a mathcore fan.
