Intense As All Hell
Listening to this album was my first experience with Through The Eyes Of The Dead, and what can I say, these guys tear it up. I've heard some people call them hardcore, I've heard others call them death metal, others call them metalcore, and so on, but in my opinion, TtEotD play brutal ass death metal with hardcore breakdowns thrown in for added intensity. The guitarists are excellent; from tricky high speed single note riffs to slow, brooding breakdowns, they cover it all, and do it well. The drummer is, quite frankly, INSANE. He's a machine, and quite possibly one of the fastest drummers I've ever heard on the double pedal. When he gets going full speed you won't be able to keep yourself from thinking "holy s*it!!". For fans of death metal drumming, TtEotD will NOT disappoint. The vocalist usually does high pitched shrieks, more resemblent of black metal than death really, but it fits the music very well and adds to the brutality of it all. Many people may avoid this band, thinking their just another run-of-the-mill metalcore bandwagon hop on, but they're MUCH better than the majority of the clones stinking up the scene. This release is relentlessly punishing, brutal and chaotic, with jaw-dropping breakdowns, fierce vocals and unbelievable instrumentation. What's not to like? I recommend this album to all fans of heavy music.

I have been waiting all year
It's about time this cd has come out. It is in my opinion one of the best cds to come out this year. Their drummer's double bass is INSANELY fast. Their breakdowns keep it coming and plenty of blast beats. Anthony's voice is still as pulverizing as ever. I bought their old EP "The Scars of Ages" and I've heard the split. This cd is a must buy. Even if you hate hardcore and you're into death metal,you should get this. You won't be disappointed. If hardcore influenced death metal is your cup of tea, drink this up.

God, I've Waited For This One
Through The Eyes of The Dead had already become a big name in the scene with their debut EP "Scars Of Ages" and their split with the Knife Trade. For anyone who thought TTEOTD were holding out on material for their first official album, you couldn't be more right. The second I put this cd on I fell in love with it, and so will any fan of the band or metalcore, metal, hardcore or death. TTEOTD have definitely upped the ante of this one, and now that they have the backing of indie metal powerhouse Prosthetic Records, they are ready to take on all who may oppose them.

For fans of previous releases, "Beneath Dying Skies" and "The Truest Shade Of Crimson" have both been re-recorded for this release, and are just as amazing as you would have remembered them. The album is made up of 11 songs (including an intro, and outro), and each song is easily memorable, and just like previous releases, you will find yourself constantly repeating the cd to listen to favorites like "When Everything Becomes Nothing" and "With Eyes Ever Turned Inward". Musically the band is equally as amazing as they were on any of their past releases. The sound is more along the lines of their split with The Knife Trade. They have definitely concentrated a lot of the death metal aspect of their sound for this release, which has created interesting moments throughout the cd. The dual guitar riffing is taken to new heights on this album, making songs like "Two Inches From The Main Artery" and "Bringer Of Truth" instant hits. The vocals are still over powering and command the respect of all who listen, although they don't see a lot of diversity. However that works to the album's advantage, because had clean vocals or whiny singing been randomly thrown in, this would not be nearly as outstanding an album as it is. The rhythm section is still an intrical part of the band. The drumming is even better than what we've heard before. For the hardcore faithful there's more than enough breakdowns hold you over, and for the metal heads there's plenty of dynamic riffs and solos found throughout the record. There really is something for every fan of heavy music to like about this album.

Everything you loved about the band is still intact on this release and that's definitely a good thing in this case. Through The Eyes Of The Dead have succeeded in releasing one of 2005's best offerings so far, and I expected no less from these guys. If you haven't already picked up their ep and split with the Knife Trade, then those should definitely be the next additions to your collection. As for this album, I guarantee no complaints from anyone who was previously a fan of the band. This album was made for you. If you like hardcore, metal or any of the related sub genres, then I would definitely recommend giving this one a listen. It's most likely one of the best you'll hear this year.
