peak performance5
The convergence of speed/thrash, death and elements of doom all rolled up into one neat little package. If you are in search of serious metal then look no further than right here. If you can't bang out to this then check yourself into your local hospital and have a MRI done. Pad the walls when you spin this one, you will find yourself in a one person mosh pit by the end of this release. Timeless metal. Just tryout the intro on the second track and you'll be screaming "GO" along with the CD.

Must-have album for death metal fans5
The high point of At The Gates' recorded material. At The Gates are credited with one of the developers of the Gothenburg sound, along with In Flames and Dark Tranquility. If you like those bands, or newer ones like Arch Enemy, then this album should be in your collection.

"Blinded By Fear" got some rotation on MTV when it came out. My favorite is "Cold," but all of the songs are strong. As other reviewers have pointed out, these are not highly complex Opeth-like songs, just straight-ahead death metal that is well-played and produced.

great melodic blackened death metal5
In '95 this type of music in the metal scene was fairly rare so that alone ought to give this album 5 stars. It's fast, it's aggressive, it's melodic and the vocals are more of a shriek then a death metal growl which already wins points for some. It's sort of like Dissection but with better production and a little more thrash to it then black metal. If you like old "In Flames" or even mid 90's "Opeth" you'd probably like this, just don't expect long drawn out acoustic melodies or clear vocals because this is straight up metal through and through. I would most certainly ask any fan of metal who hasn't heard this to give it a listen since as far as I'm concerned it's hard not to like.
