Customer Reviews

Great disc, I can't stop listening to it5
I was turned on to these guys after hearing the song "Ovum" on Sirius one day. The sheer power of that song blew me away on the 1st listen, which is rare for me. It made me think back to the early 90s when I was listening to great death/thrash stuff from Exodus/Possessed/Carcass/Entombed etc. Daath doesn't really sound like those bands, they just have a certain energy that is very focused and executed so well. Well, The Hinderers isn't as super heavy like I thought it might be, it's definitely very polished though. On a heaviness scale I find them somewhere between Goatwhore and Cradle of Filth, but with better all-around musicianship. One thing I love about this disc is that the songs are pretty straightforward, they don't mess around before getting to the good stuff for the most part.

As a side note, I highly recommend seeing them live. I just read they are going to be on Ozzfest this year, so if you are planning on taking your little brother and his friends, at least you will have one great band to see while you're waiting it out.

black is the new pink4
I saw the music video for subterfuge and I liked it so much that I got this cd which is something I normally don't do or would do. I have to say that the risk paid off because this is a good metal cd. I like the majority of the songs which pack quite the metal punch full of energy which will have you bangin' your head. There are 1 or 2 songs I don't really care for but who knows they might grow on me with time.

All the playing sounds good from the guttural vocals to the heavy guitars and drumming. There are synths and keyboarding thrown in most of the songs especially on dead on the dance floor which gives then an industrial feel but they are in every way a true metal band as opposed to an industrial metal band.

Anyways if you're looking for a good metal cd to pump you up then I highly suggest that you get this cd.

Been listening to it for Months5
Yeah, I know it came out less then a week ago, but it was leaked a long time ago on the net. Despite having heard this CD for months, I still was a first day buyer. Daath's music is simply catchy enough to keep it fresh in the mind of the listener for a VERY long time. Every track is amazing and heavy, with Ovum being a good indicator of the whole CD. If you've heard and liked Ovum, this will not disappoint. And if you liked this cd, a 10 track promo of it was leaked that contains some songs that did not actually appear on the CD. I suggest checking those songs out as well.

This is the one cd that I am constantly recommending to everyone. This bands success seems to be disproportional to the quality of their music and I think that if you are any kind of fan of Heavy Music, The Hinderers is a must.
