Album Description
Constantine Maroulis is one of American Idol’s most popular stars. He made American Idol’s 2005 season exceptional with his delivery of Queens’ Bohemian Rhapsody. Constantine’s accomplishments since idol have been stellar. From starring in Off-Broadway’s acclaimed Jacques Brell Is Alive And Well In Paris, to co-hosting Idol Chatter on Fox’s Good Day NY, he remains a great talent. On May 14th, 2007, Constantine became a featured performer on The Bold and The Beautiful, the number two soap in the world. Constantine’s role was created especially for him and the show incorporates music from Constantine’s upcoming album. This forthcoming album includes great songwriters from LA, NYC, and Nashville including Rob Thomas; Willie Nelson; Angie Aparo (Faith Hill); Marcel (Rascal Flats); Grammy-nominated Kevin Kadish (Jason Mraz) as well as songs by band members Boggia, Copely and Roye.

If you're on the fence about whether music from American Idol alumnus Constantine Maroulis is worth your time, consulting the cover art could help. Those who swooned over his dark good looks in 2005 will be swayed again instantly. And in the end, that won't be a bad thing. Constantine, the former contestant's first solo album (fans will note that Pray for the Soul of Betty, a 2005 release, was the work of a band to which Constantine contributed vocals prior to his TV turn) rocks hard, rejects infantile songwriting, and leaves no room for duds--each of its 12 tracks surprises with a maturity you wouldn't necessarily expect from a guy who got his big break on TV. The opening piano plinks of "Girl Like You" give way to a Santana-esque romp, "Everybody Loves" brings out the Freddy Mercury in Maroulis' likable if not overly pliant voice, and "Sister, Sister"--one of a few numbers co-written by Maroulis--steals hearts with a sharp turn away from the predictable; here's a song about sibling love from an artist who some would expect to focus on lusty joints. Constantine's producers play it straight and don't get overly fancy, but that's not to say the disc is without flourishes. The sizzle Constantine normally reserves for the camera slips directly into these songs. --Tammy La Gorce

Pleasantly surprised!5
I was not sure what to expect with this CD. Even though I really liked Constantine on Idol, so many of those contestants have gone on after the show to release mediocre CDs, making one wonder how they got so far on the show. Not so with this release! His vocals are fabulous, the songs are great...I absolutely love this CD! I'm impressed he started his own label so he could produce just what he wanted. I can't wait for the next one to be released!

ADDICTING5
This is a CD I will keep in my car and listen to over and over. The music is sort of Santanna meets rock and roll meets middle eastern music. I recognize some Greek roots in there, but very well integrated with modern rock. It is multi-faceted, not boring, romantic, rhythmic. His voice is beautiful.

Constantine Doesn't Work For Clive Davis5
I ran out this morning to get my Constantine CD and as soon as I started listening, my first thought was, "This is just like Constantine." You can tell he didn't have anybody telling him what to do on this album or how to do it. You can tell he picked the songs and you can tell he sings them his own way. I think his versatility is refreshing. I can really love an artist's hit song, but oftentimes I get really bored with the rest of the CD because every song sounds the same. Not the case with Constantine. He mixes accoustic with rock with pop and much more.

I'm not going to say I love every song, because I don't. I don't like the rocker songs on there - but he keeps that to a minimum. My pick for the single wouldn't have been "Everybody Loves," although, I think it's catchy. I think it's too bubblegum and who's he trying to sell this to? If he wants to go mainstream, I would have picked something grittier, like "Heaven Help The Lonely." It's a great song and shows his vocals. And when he talks in the middle... I get goosebumps. V-E-R-Y sexy.

I'm totally amazed he did this Indie. One thing that helps this CD is Constantine's band. The guitarist is incredible. And as everybody knows, a singer is only as good as his band. Great CD. Congratulations, Constantine!
