Mind Blowing
Having heard the name Behold...The Arctopus on and off for a few months I decided to start tracking them down to have a listen. Eventually I find myself at an FYE, I scanned this at a preview station, and WOW. Bombardment of sound and melody. This band is fantastic, and their new album amazed me greatly. So much complexity and power. I highly recommend this album and disregard any certain "1 star ratings" which speak of a lack of melody. foolish, next they'll want breakdowns. Cheers!
fufilled they promise we all waited for
Like their first ep, this album is amazing. I don't know if would even be able to tell if their playing ability has gotten better. Arctopus fans get everything they want and more. Their songs have somehow grown more dynamic, and yes even more interesting. They seem to convey even bigger soundscapes. Simply amazing. Behold..the Arctopus, in my opinion, have proven themselves to be the most important and advanced metal band ever. Their conception clearly marks a new generation of metal.
Ohhhhh baby!
As a person who actually doesn't really like metal but likes genres such as classical (not the boring kind), jazz, opera, 20TH century composition, electronic music (i.e. Venetian Snares) and the playwright William Shakespeare, I suppose I am a person that aims for either 'high art' (excuse the cheese) or something that at least has something to say ragarding the purpose of art, which is to shine a light on what it means to be human. Now that's all a load of air-headed drivvel that no one is interested in these days - and too right aswell. But surely it says something about this band when, above countless other (run-of-the-mill) metal acts I have encoutered, these guys aim for something which no one else has even thought to touch upon. I am new to the metal-tech scene, but I cannot express my joy upon finding this band. They have, for me, redeemed metal. Most metal bands, as far as I'm concerned, put the idea of 'style', 'genre', 'entertainment' and 'show' as the most apparent and evident method of their construction. They have not first become musicians, they have not aquired discipline, they aren't crafters and moulders, they aren't artists. Yes, I'm a pompous donkey, but I 'try' to make valid statements even though people usually disagree with them.
