The glorious return of Septic Flesh!
After five long years of hoping and waiting, it has finally happened. Septic Flesh (now known as Septicflesh) have released their mightiest and most ambitious endeavor into the world of Metal. With their skills honed to perfection they have obliterated the playing field in terms of musicianship, songwriting, and sheer brutality.
Accompanied by an orchestra of 80 and a choir of 32 they have triumphed in creating a perfect synergy of something beyond any classification of Metal and Neo-Classical orchestration. So many metal bands get big and try pull this off, sometimes well, then go on to abuse the privilege with later albums until it is a cliche even unto themselves. The glaring fact is that compared to this album even the best ones fail, fail, fail. However, the huge production boost tied to this album is merely an added bonus. The bands commitment to quality and bringing the best out of what they have to work with is one of their most endearing traits...for the record company Seasons of The Mist to give the band what they've always wanted in terms of production is to truly bring forth the apocalypse. No band has been so deserving of such treatment.
These are the masters that (almost) nobody knew and its about time they have gotten their chance to unleash what was truly inside all along. You've never heard anything done this well before. Already being hailed as Album of The Year by the foremost Metal authorities, you owe it to yourself to pick this one up.
The searing melodies, sonic destruction, and superb craftsmanship encompassing this entire album are so poorly described with words. Pick it up and prepare for one hell of a ride. Your ears will thank you.
It doesnt get much better than this!!!
This is just a mind blowing and pheonominal cd. The previous reviews were good and good enough for me to buy this. I was a Septic Flesh fan 12 years ago but stopped listening to them and got rid of the cd's--I know, I'm stupid. But atleast I found my way back. This cd is a sonic masterpiece for extreme metal. It is brutal, has melody--but not melodic and is mutlifaceted. The symphony is great but it is not overbearing. Fans of Arcturus will like this. The song writting is great, the songs dont blend together and paint an incredible sonic tapestry. Some of the clean vocals are a little quirkey but still are a part of the whole piece. This is like combining albums like "Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion" from Old Mans Child, "Equilibrium IX" from Emperor, early Vader and throw in a little Dimmu Borgir. The vocals though are downright dark and as cheesy as it sounds--evil. Album of the year!!!! Hope you are lucky like me to get the limited edition with the mindblowing Egyptian artwork. The metal God's are smiling on us!!!
Blown away!!!
I haven't been this impressed with a band since I heard "Ghost Reveries" by OPETH. The way the symphonic elements blend with the blast-beats and distortion is second to none. Check out their earlier catalog too!
